A new look at Iran's complicated relationship with the Taliban

Pakistan has little in the way of natural resources.

Turkey has little natural resources and its recent gas discovery is mostly from stealing from neighbors in territorial disputes.

Only Iran has abundance of many different types of natural resources.
Oil and gas will be phased out over the next hundred years. The most important natural resource is people and the arable land to support them....look at East Asia and Europe. Pakistan and Turkey have that plus they are gateways to other regions.

Why most the Iranians in this forum displaying their idiotic ignorance about Turkey with looking so confident? With the map below u can learn where is the location of the gas field. The other gas field is not at sea in Trakya by the way. There is no active commercial operation yet, and reserve determination activities continue. Two ships will drill 30 more deep wells in the Black Sea. Production and transfer to the mainland will begin in two years.

Dumbest thing I have ever heard. Natural gas is a CLEAN burning fuel. It powers most developed countries power plants. Natural gas will DOMINATE the next 250 years while oil will likely become less and less over next 75 years, but like coal will still be used as its price falls due to demand.

US does have a divide and conquer policy and has pawns all across the world.

Have you guys ever read about the international school of dictators?

More than 60,000 Latin American soldiers have been trained at the School of the Americas – among them, the some of the region's most notorious human rights abusers, such as Salvadoran death-squad leader Roberto D'Aubuisson. In all, 11 dictators have attended its courses: men such as Argentine junta leader, Leopoldo Galtieri, infamously responsible for the "disappeared" and Guatemala's Efraín Ríos Montt, whose scorched earth campaign against indigenous villages, was classified as "genocide" by a UN-sponsored commission.

Sounds like paranoia, but it’s true. Saddam and Osama bin Laden were both CIA assets that turned rogue.

Anyways, the US knows how to play on the ego of the major players of the Middle East. They know how to make dogs fight over the bone.

The greater ME/NA region (including Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan) contains 30% or more of the world's strategic resources. Not just oil and gas but also coal, iron, copper, aluminum and solar energy as well. Not to mention a huge population that will continue to grow (a vast potential production-consumption capacity). The region united has immense power potential. This is why the neocons and various western factions want it fighting amongst itself.

The ME/NA region can rise in the next 100 years if its leaders smarten up. They must follow China's example of how to persevere after a period of humiliation.
Japan has no coal, iron, copper, aluminum, nor oil, gas. Japan has only one thing, human resource. Japan is the second largest economy until China surpassed her in 2010. Japan population is 120 millions, account for 1.62% of the total world population. Japan ranks number 11 in the list of countries by population.

Rich resource and huge population is the key for success is 18th, 19th century idea. Rich resource in 20th attract great power attention, plunder, conquer, colonization, which is what happened in past 121 years.

China example is what they should follow, very true. Will other great power especially France, US, Russia, and regional powers like Iran, Turkey give them a chance?

My thoughts on Arab/NA bloc rejuvenatation.

And you think that Iran doesn't have human resources or arable land? And Iran basically connects 5 different regions on the map: 1- Middle East, 2- Eurasia, 3- Caucasus, 4- Central Asia, 5- South Asia.

Not enough to be a global level power. The greater ME/NA region has about 1 billion people plus huge amounts strategic resources of various types. 1 billion people grants tremendous strategic weight....add all those strategic resources...and you have a monster of immense economic capacity.

And Turkey and Pakistan have enough human resources or arable lands to become a global power? How so? I'm still confused about what you said there.
The problem with the Middle East is outdated ideologies more than anything else which prevents them from coexisting peacefully and working together to make those resources count.

Key word is combined. Consider just Turkey, Iran and Pakistan combined (plus you can probably include Afghanistan and maybe Azerbaijan or Iraq). That's about 450 million people....bigger then the USA or EU...population wise. As I said earlier, oil and gas industry may only be relevant for another 100 years. Iran and other energy exporters have to start thinking about what comes next economically. A larger grouping allows for more capacity to produce/consume under a common banner....and that grants strategic weight. China is a good role model. Also look at EU or ASEAN as examples.

I agree the region has been limited by lack of working together. Outside powers have a hand in this as well but in the end its up to the local leaders to be savvy.

Taliban = Eastern Iranic tribalists/Afghan ultra-nationalists.

More power they get, they will start claiming territory to the east where Afghans have always launched invasion/migration campaigns. Anybody who sees them as some religious warrior is a petty fool.

Pakistan still has 65 different types of minerals that are mined every year.

I'd say Iran should become a customer and purchase as much of their gold as possible.
