A little Bosnia in Turkey

.
My wife's maternal grand father was a Bosnian who got settled in Turkey and married a Turkish Muslima from Izmir. He died but the grand mother is MashaAllah still alive and healthy. She is a Kemalist but now she likes Erdogan as well. A very nice couple.

For 130 years, Bosnians have lived in a Turkish village where they have managed to preserve their language and some Bosnian traditions. We visited Turankoy village and talked to its residents to find out more about their bond with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I head there is small Polish and Albanian villages in Istanbul as well

Welcome the world of human civilisations where people from different backgrounds and ideologies have been entering relationships since ages and in fact this interaction is the engine of growth. You claim be hailing from USA which is a melting pot of various culture and many Pakistani Muslim men have married many non-Muslim women...and here in this case they both were / are Muslim so which part of this sounds enigma to your little brain.

I was talking about the grandparents of my wife. My wife's mother came to Sweden for education and met a handsome Pakistani doctor here and they fell in love and got married and I met their daughter (my wife) at a common friend's place...we were the only two Pakistanis there..1.5 Pakistanis to be precise, both drinking non-alcoholic drinks and we liked each other and rest is the history.. (Skipped all the details... otherwise it was not that straight forward)

Yup, she speaks Swedish and Turkish as natively while fluent in English as well but her Urdu is typical of 2nd or 3rd gen. overseas Pakistani because her father speaks Pashto more than Urdu (He is from Swat)... She can even speak some Albanian because she attended a girls only Islamic school there for a year when her grandparents moved there for a time being.

Finding half Pakistanis is not so difficult in USA. In fact I was forced to meet so many such confused girls when I was there... could not find the perfect match... so resorted to lame excuses to convince my friends and family until I met her since she ticked all the boxes.

Lot of those "Bulgarian", "Bosnians", "Albanians" etc. in Turkey are actually Turks from Karaman/Karamanidis area who where sent to the Balkan region by the Ottomans to turkifie the region.

Like Atatürk, whose ancestors are from Taşkale/Karaman or my grandparents, who are living know back in their home town Karaman, Turkey.

No keep looking, you'll find one. My problem was that I was against marriage at that time since I wanted to establish my business and be settled before getting married and the type of girls I was introduced were too confused and I had no wish or time to dig deeper so even small issues were sufficient to put me off.
