Unless P5 agree for reforms, the process of reforms cannot be proceeded. All the P5 agreed for reforms with ,surprisingly, China actually cooperating.

So the first hurdle is gone.

Yes...it is not an easy path. It may take years or even a decade.

I personally think there will be no UN when P5 agree for reforms.

If the P5 show the world a way in, they'll soon have to take the same way out. Any change to the position of the P5 will set off a movement, pretty sure Japan, KSA, Germany, Brazil, India all want in and can create a good case for themselves but then the UNSC will probably never pass another draft until the whole UNSC has to be reformed and all members have to be made transitional.

UN is a toothless tiger. It could not stop US from invading Iraq nor it could stop Russia from annexing Crimea. A UN permanent seat is more symbolic and a status to show that the new member is considered now as a big boy.

We can say we will only work for betterment of world and peace .We wont work as an ally of West in global matters .But will work for the peace of this world .In that case if we want to support Russia and China ,no matter we will do that .We will follow our own interests and independent policy.

Small step but we need to concentrate our economic ,military ,social and S&T advancement .When we pass that 8 -15 trillion $ level with advanced defence force .They wouldnt show any type of hesitation in UNSC seat.

Like you said it may even take one decade .And so we need to push these GDP growth in to another level .
A nation having 8+ trillion $ economy with 1. 4 billion people and still growing in entire sectors .You cant ignore that voice .
Might is Right .
But then we will also take our own decision in global matters ,far different than the ideas like abstention like in Syria cases.
Of Course we will create adversaries at that time .But power always win .We need that power ,until then these soft power and diplomacy is more than enough.
