Gripen is junk cause its made by parts supplied by more than 18 nations that is the reason we did not took eurofighter ... better invest in F16 when grippen NG and F16 BLK 70/72 are of same proce but BLK70/72 is ready but if all goes well as planned Grippen NG "will be ready by 2022" so why weight till then better invest that money in either Rafale F4 or if F35 is avilable in F35 cause as mass production of it is going to increase its price is coming lower and already its on par with rafale F4 ....
as for LCA MK1A with Israeli GaN based AESA radar & GaN based Unified EW+ECM and avionics suite & 8222 jammer pods tere is nothing at least in south asia except rafale maybe that can fight MK1A one on one not even PAF BLK52s
cause they also come with DASH-3 HMDS -HUD +Python 5 WVR HOBS combo and DERBY+ I DERBY ER BVR+ EL 2052 combo
F-16s are made by as many nations as the Gripen, and these countries have
commercial rights to supply India with parts. Lockheed Martin only have the rights to sell 40% of the value. The rest will be supplied by the US, U.K., Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Turkey, South Korea etc.
India is unlikely to get hold of F-35s with the current relations with Russia.
You are OK with the US selling loads of F-16s to Pakistan, but Sweden selling a few EriEyes to Pakistan is betrayal. Grow Up!
Gripen C consistently win against F-16s in exercises. Gripen E will be even better.
Gripen E can easily be adapted by India to use whatever missiles India plans to use,
without the involvement of SAAB. This is due to the sixth generation Software Architecture, that Lockheed would like for the F-35, instead of the bug ridden monolithic S/W architecture it shares with the F-16. You will not see those missiles on the F-16, and you will not see Meteor on LCA.
From a maintenance point of view, it is better to have Gripen with the same engine as is planned to be use for the LCA Mk2, than a completely different engine used on the F-16.
And LCA Mk 1A will not have a GaN based radar. Israel has proposed to develop such a radar, but that has not happened. Meanwhile SAAB is flying a GaN based AESA radar in GlobalEye since a few years.
