thats why no one cares what Indians think, and you people are living in delusion, your pony economy is based on Import and primitive consumption, so the nominal measure in Dollar is more suited for India..

Considering you repeat same recycled crap in every thread, I am guessing it must be difficult for you to think and write at same time?

In economics there is something called a purchasing power parity...PPP ratio for India is 3:1. ie one dollar spent in India will buy you the same goods or services that $3 spent in US.

A guy earning $2/day in US would woefully poor..even unable to fulfill basic sustenance...That is why US govt defines its poverty line $22,350/yr(for a family)...equivalent to $15/day per person.

But since good and services are much cheaper in India ..an average person is able make his ends meet at much more cheaply.

.
you already have Asia's biggest slum and nothing seems to move your economy.

Lol... its a city as per indian standards:

why dont you compare economies of both the slums?? that will give the clear picture of living standard...BDW i can also post hundreds of pics from terrorism and poverty infested pakistan..shall i?

.
BDW Dharavi's GDP is comparable to karachi - $ 78 billion with less population making its living standard better than an average karachiite

Quality of living standard vs poverty + slum+ density... orangi is just a poor neighbourhood.. far far less congested .. small population density where white collar people live in cemented houses+hospitals+parks+gas+electricity+sanitation... unlike dharavi... as for patients going to india... heard abt medical tourism? even people frm EU,America come to countries like india, brazil, thailand for tht... 1)coz its cheap,2)organs etc.

About poverty infested... unlike india we will less than 17.5% poverty and 300-500rs is the per day wage of a labourer + 1000rs frm the govt+food subsidy.

Lol, news published by a Pakistani news source and on Pakistan's current conditions. And yet people can't refrain from bringing India into it.

What do you call it? Insecurity about one's own identity. :disagree:

50 percent of all Pakistanis have little or no access to clean toilets and drinking water, a condition that renders them vulnerable to infectious diseases.

One of the entrances to Dharavi

Dharavi compared to other large slums in the world. Map according to Mike Davis.

Inside Dharavi
Dharavi (Portuguese spelling Daravi[1] British Anglicised spelling Darravy, Dorrovy) is a slum and administrative ward, over parts of Sion, Bandra, Kurla and Kalina suburbs of Mumbai, India. It is sandwiched between Mahim in the west and Sion in the east,[2] and spread over an area of 175 hectares, or 0.67 square miles (1.7 km2). In 1986, the population was estimated at 530,225,[3] but modern Dharavi has a population of between 600,000[4] and over 1 million people.[5] Dharavi is one of the largest slums in the world.[5][6][4][7][8] It used to be the largest slum in Mumbai at one time, but as of 2011, there are four slums in Mumbai larger than Dharavi.[9]
In most large cities, the floor space index (FSI) varies from 5 to 15 in the Central Business District (CBD) to about 0.5, or below, in the suburbs. In Mumbai the permitted FSI is uniform and in 1991 was fixed at 1.33. The regulations that restrict the FSI greatly reduce the floor space available for residence and business.[10] In expensive Mumbai, Dharavi provides a cheap alternative where rents were as low as US$4 per month in 2006.[11] Dharavi exports goods around the world.[12] The total (and largely informal) turnover is estimated to be between US$500 million[3] and over US$650 million per year.[11]

78Billion economy of dharavi... i dnt know what stuff they are running down there...

Oh Damn! Another troll fest, if ever there was one!!! Why the dickens do we start threads on poverty in each others countries? There's nothing to chose between the two. Corruption, black money in Swiss banks, non governance, politicking and so on is the bane of both India and Pakistan.

Instead of showing each other in a bad light why don't we instead throw up answers on how to improve things in both our countries? Any takers?
:smokin:

Sounds BS to me... every house has a toilet and every neighbourhood has water purification plants.. except rural areas... considering we are south asias most urbanised and wired nation....

Although 75-80% indians dnt have access to sanitation n most dnt have clean drinking water...

75+% kids are malnurished... around 90% dnt have access to clean water... and god knows what...600-800 million indians have no access to sanitation:
