He was a well read muslim. Read the Hadith, the prophet said that anyone who said 'as salaam alaykum' is a musallman.

Since when did any right thinking human being require someone else to interpret the holy scriptures?

Hahaha!! He is a treasure trove of knowledge. Don't know him personally, other than a great interaction here always. But his erudition, knowledge and eloquence is truly amazing. Am learning a lot from him and few others.

He tends to point you in directions at first. Guides you to read, learn, assimilate and analyse, access information across sources and across boundaries; never directly though. He reads every word you write. I tend to skip sentences. And the he critically analyses it.

It irritates people, I understand. But that is because at some level they have a closed opinion. For me, his views at times seemed anti-India and at times die hard pro-India, initially an antithetical person it seemed. But then you have to read his statement for that particular point and see the relevance, and you see the clarity of thought.

And I was able to get what he is - an intellectual who is very erudite, who can teach yet will never force his idea on you, who will test you to prove yourself (by engaging you, then poking you to excel and if you are written off - you are put on ignore forever till it tickles him to bait you).

Yes, he can get on one's nerves and may rub people the wrong way, but that is because for him things are clear and for others it may not be and some may find that simply too much to handle. But if you engage him to learn, trust me, he can guide you to avenues which you may not be aware of.

That's my take on it. Try engaging him and learning from him. You will see what I mean. Its a pleasure reading his post, even where he is insulting another member. Such eloquence ....!! Thats art!

I was called right wing by him ... and called imperfect indian by DASH ... and am considered a pro-pakistani by many indian members here ... its ok. You are here for what? My reason is to learn and understand. So its ok. Not here to earn someone's approval.
