700 Scientists Quit DRDO

. .
@ OP - These figures of 700 individuals will be too low when you compare it to the employers who quit TCS or Infosys in the last 6 years .
God.... whats the point of discussing such a thread to death :hitwall:

The point is DRDO job is != IT sector job !!

Doing research is a passion for scientists its needs lot of dedication if you thinks money matters then simply quit. Most DRDO personnel used to kicked out by SAC and you should show your research progression b4 that committee for every 3 yrs if not simply they will terminate them. But many of them won't reveals that truth.

Don't expect them to be completely dedicated to research without taking financial consideration. They have to raise their family, educate their kids, marry them etc.

People expect nationalism from DRDO scientists, nothing wrong with it, but at the same time people who question them are involved in corruption at every level. How many of you have used reservation or some kind of favors from your contacts, paid bribes to get away from Traffic police etc. 700 DRDO scientists leave the job but what about thousands of Indian engineers who get education on relatively small fees from best institutes in India like IITs and leave country for more money.

I agree DRDO scientists should be dedicated to national growth and development in R & D but at the same time its the duty of the govt. and our establishments to take care of these scientists who work so hard. They should get competitive salaries that are offered in Private sectors and research institutes in abroad.

A scientist wants to research and for that he/she needs funding and advance research equipments. He/she needs constant support from the organization and wants to work without any politics in the organizations like DRDO, ISRO etc. To understand what scientist wants, you have to be a scientist and I have observed them very closely. Try to understand what they seek, instead of just finding faults in them.

Isn't that the story of all PSUs in India.. ?

And btw, Bangalore is one of the most costliest cities in India.. the pay scientists get in DRDO is not enough to survive in a city like Bangalore..

damn, a decent food will cost you easily 600-800 bucks per head which is atrocious !!! Everything from Bus Fares and Auto fares are so expensive in Bangalore.. ( yes and I have lived in Delhi for more than 15 years ) ..

And you won't get those road side stalls selling really good stuffs which is the case in Mumbai and Delhi.. Only BRANDED stuffs..

Also, a movie show ticket for a decent release will hover around 400-700 bucks in PVR/INOX etc.. damn I can get a BSNL unlimited 4 MBps broadband for that amount and download sh!t loads of movies..

I also stayed in Mattikare nearby Ramaiah hospital ,Bangalore for more than 2 yrs. You simply exaggerating the figures ,you get decent tali for 60 rupees , NV for 200-250. If you want to travel by bus everyday take bus pass , auto charges based on meter its not that costlier. PVR/INOX charging same amount like Delhi ,Gurgaon, Noida.

Exactly, one could understand once Indian pilots quitting the air force to join budget airlines but here the pay scale is not exactly desperate.

Think about it, it is desperate, when L&T and TCS are paying 10 times that for tech projects.

Its a great dilemma in Pakistan also...
NESCOM and Atomic energy Commission lose skilled work force on regular basis...
mainly they immigrate abroad....

Sometimes i think Pakistan should create a sort of Sim city or Forbidden city for people like these...
A city where commoners are forbidden and you need to work your way into the city....only highly educated people and people who served the country significantly... allowed to live in the city...

That way this outward torrent of talent may stop....
Most people leave Pakistan and India for Quality of life not exactly money

Brain drain and attiration of Hr due to private sector has always been a great challengee for government organisation. In India, the oil and gas PSU have very high salaries and very low loss of skilled engineers and managers. Defense PSU's need to adopt similar pay grades.

Incentives and promotions are main reason to leave for a lucrative private industry. A person with PhD and 5 yrs experience will get say 5-7 lakhs per year in govt organisation while in private industry he will get anywhere between 10-20 lakhs depending on experience and expertise.
In private the talented and hardworkers are rewarded so frustated people from govt organisations shift to private.

Another thing is politics and nepotism in govt industry fails to excite young generation. I personally did not pick job of scientist in govt organisation and joined private pharmaceutical company after my PhD. Though today I miss the security of job in govt,

No bro! You are indeed exaggerating all the prices. I have been living in Bangalore for the last 25 years!

Probably you might have seen that in IMAX, ( they have opened that recently) and not the normal PVR screen, thats why the high price. What is the price for IMAX in delhi ( i dunno if there is an IMAX there).

A normal hindi movie ticket would cost not more than 250- 300 on peak time/weekends.

And amongst all the theaters pvr is the costliest in bangalore.

Compare it to railway then....
The point is most of them left for personal reasons which includes lack of time for the family , expectations of the highest level , pressure etc
If 700 left them 7000 were added ;)
