63 Years On, India is Home to World's Biggest Population of Poor, Hungry, Illiterate

Released in 2008 "A Wednesday" and "Shoot at sight" shows that Pakistani people and to some extent Pakistan's govt agencies are responsible for formenting terrorism in India and UK. Both are by fairly serious directors. So does that demolish the carefully crafter image (no one buys it though) of Pakistan being a victim and not sponsor of terrorism?

It is ridiculous to compare propaganda movies with serious movies addressing an unfolding human tragedy that has already claimed 200,000 farmers lives in the last 10 years....and it shows no signs of abating.

But I guess nothing is beyond you in your thoughtless and blind defense of Indian policies.

BTW recently UK pm Mr David Cameron said something. It is not in movie though.

After 63 years, India remains home to the world's largest population of poor, hungry and illiterate people, a land where a massive female genocide is unfolding, a system of caste Apartheid flourishes, its minorities are routinely subjected to state-organized massacres, two-thirds of its population defecates in the open, and it leads the world in child marriages and honor killings.
Poor choice of words:tdown:
As for rest of the part, should that be surprising for country that is 77% rural?

And India still has delusions of grandeur with its massive military budget and unprecedented arms buildup to threaten its neighbors.
We aren't neighboring Canada now are we?
Besides, our military budget is 2.5% of our GDP.(like mentioned a zillion times over here)
$32 billion for nation that is 2,973,190 km2 in area , 7,000km long coastline with over a billion population is obvious. If some people who feel threatened about it,thats not our problem.

Dude.. The idea is not to defend anything but to show how ridiculous it is to use a movie to backup your views about social evils in India. You know, they put a disclaimer about coincidental similarities with real life events and people in the begining of a movie for a reason. Its even worse when you use contents of a movie to counter posts that are quoting UNDP and World Bank data

Not only is India's middle class very small, vast majority of its members sit on the hairy of edge of just $2 a day, and quite vulnerable to any shocks.

On UNDP education index, Pakistan scores low at 0.665 and ranks 137, but it is still ahead of India's score of 0.638 and ranking of 142nd on a list of 176 nations.

Average number of years of schooling in Pakistan is 13 years, 3 years more than India's 10, according to this index as referenced in the Newsweek cover story on 100 Best Countries.

An average Pakistani is, therefore, better educated and more capable of earning higher income than an average Indian.

what makes you think that UNDP did not considered all datas while preparing the report ?
even if the ignored it will not bring pakistans ranking better than india's because HDI is based on the performance of several areas and tha fact is 63 Years On, India is Home to World's Biggest Population of Poor, Hungry, Illiterate but india is still better than pakistan

HDI OF PAKISTAN _ 0.572
HDI OF INDIA - 0.612
RANKING

PAKISTAN -141
INDIA - 134

and the link which you provided also clearly shows that india is better than pakistan

results-
India rank 78
score 55.70

Pakistan 89
score 47.7

You can see that same things have different value in different countires. So you can't say that one who is below poverty line in one country is also below poverty line in another. You need to take care about the cost of living of that country also.

So you better take those $2 and do :bounce:

Rest of your post is already torn apart by my fellow countryman:sniper:

and NO Reply to any of my post............don't you have any???:smokin:

GR8..................what is anti-India, that is serious effort to address some tregedy or problem. But when somebody kick you, then that is propaganda...........what a balanced approach you are gifted with!!!

Is this is a propaganda too???

The United States has warned of "severe consequences" if a successful extremist attack in America were traced back to Pakistan, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Friday in an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes."

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for a failed bid to bomb New York's Times Square last Saturday. If proven, it would be the group's first act in the United States.

Pakistani-American Faisal Shahzad has been charged with driving the crude homemade bomb into Midtown Manhattan and said he acted alone, according to authorities. But investigators have uncovered possible links to the Pakistani Taliban and a Kashmiri Islamist group.

"We've made it very clear that if -- heaven-forbid -- an attack like this that we can trace back to Pakistan were to have been successful, there would be very severe consequences," she said, without elaborating.

Shahzad, 30, who was born in Pakistan and became a U.S. citizen last year, has admitted to the failed plot and to receiving bomb-making training in a Taliban and al Qaeda stronghold in Pakistan, prosecutors said.

I like the points you make, but those can be done without use of such language, even if Mr.Haq's articles vilify India,he doesn't use foul or substandard language,so edit your post ,unless you wish to be banned.

That's exactly what you are doing to your poor people. 7000 Indians die every day from hunger, and 200 million go to bed hungry each night, according to bhookh.com

Oh Riaz...............We "Poor of India" really want to thank you from the core of our heart. You are a "Farishta" who is so much concerned about us. Plz tell us.........How you are being able to sucessfully BEG so much???

The Asian Development Bank will provide close to $6 billion development assistance to Pakistan during 2006-9. The World Bank unveiled a lending program of up to $6.5 billion for Pakistan under a new four-year, 2006–2009, aid strategy showing a significant increase in funding aimed largely at beefing up the country's infrastructure. Japan will provide $500 million annual economic aid to Pakistan. In November 2008, The International Monetary Fund(IMF) has approved a loan of 7.6 Billion to Pakistan, to help Stabilize and rebuild the country's economy. More recently the govt of Pakistan received an economic aid of US $5bn dollars out of which the US pledge of $1bn was described as a down-payment on the previously announced $1.5bn already promised to Pakistan for each of the next five years. The European Union promised $640m over four years, while reports said Saudi Arabia had pledged $700m over two years. Overall Friends of Pakistan had pledged $1.6 billion in aid, which would help Pakistan move forward on its way to self-reliance.

self-reliance. by begging.............:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Most of these items, particularly milk and eggs, are beyond the reach of most Indians. India's per capita consumption of dairy is among the lowest in the world.

According to the FAO, the average dairy consumption of the developing countries is still very low (45 kg of all dairy products in liquid milk equivalent), compared with the average of 220 kg in the industrial countries. Few developing countries have per capita consumption exceeding 150 kg (Argentina, Uruguay and some pastoral countries in the Sudano-Sahelian zone of Africa). Among the most populous countries, only Pakistan, at 153 kg per capita, has such a level. In South Asia, where milk and dairy products are preferred foods, India has only 64 kg and Bangladesh 14 kg. East Asia has only 10 kg.
