Six persons were gunned down and eight others injured in attacks and counter attacks by two communities in Lower Assam's Kokrajhar town where curfew has been clamped and the army kept on standby.

Four cadres of former insurgent outfit Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) cadres were shot dead by unidentified persons at Joypur area under Kokrajhar police station of Kokrajhar district last night, police sources said.

In a suspected retaliatory attack, unidentified persons fired killing a 60-year-old man Shahadat Hussain and injured four others in Duramari area under Kokrajhar police station early this morning, the sources said.

A 14-year old boy, Zakir Ali, was stoned to death by unidentified persons in Narabari area of Kokrajhar Road, the sources said.

In yet another attack during the day, four others were injured by armed men in Kodalduha under Fakiragram police station, they said.

The violence was suspected to have been triggered by shooting at and injury to two student leaders, Mohibul Islam, the founder president of the All Bodoland Minority Students' Union and Abdul Siddique Sheikh, the former president of Bilasipara unit of the All Assam Minority Students' Union at Magurbari on Thursday night.

The district administration imposed curfew from 12 noon today to 6:00 am tomorrow in the town and prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in the district, officials said.

Army has been kept on stand-by in sensitive areas and additional security forces deployed, IGP (BTAD) S N Singh said.

The four BLT cadres have been identified as Pradip Narzary, Jungsar Bodo, Jatin Goyary and Dhrubajyoti Goyary.

^ If this is the quality of the threads that are being put up in the forum every now and then on a daily basis, how can any one expect the quality of debate to go up?

when it says two community then sure it is Hindu-Muslim riots.

It is unjustified to expect the indigenous tribals of Assam (Bodos) to keep quite when their lands are being encroached by the illegal Bangladeshis.

Anyway violence is not the way forward. Assam Govt should step in and implement immediate steps to pacify the solution for the short term and also look for long term solutions which includes expelling the illegal migrants who are causing trouble for the native tribals.

How many times the same thing ? Better create a separate thread and put all such posts in that one thread.

Also, is there not anything constructive to discuss ? One small riot in one state becomes such a big issue that everyone want to come and discuss it.

Exactly, these small small things keep happening in the third world...hopeless to create separate threads for them.

RIP Victims ....

RIP to the dead....

It is an unfortunate fact that more Muslims have killed Muslims than Non-muslims having killed Muslims. Considering the daily diwalis going on in Pakistan ( 3 incidents alone today in Orakzai, Gwadar and Dir), such incidents are but a drop in the ocean of what cancer these jihadists represent. Once Assam is purged of all such radical fundamentalists, the BLTs and other nameless outfits will automatically vanish into thin air.
Daily Diwali......what's wrong with you dude....Don't troll....you might just invited an infraction...

If you hate these type of threads, don't reply in same way they posted...let their be a difference if you want.

What will you achieve by discussing ONLINE about A RIOT in Assam ? If you are so concerned, catch a plane, go to that state and do something. FAKE SYMPATHY should be kept to one's ownself.

People who stay in one country and do dallali for other countries are the prime reason for destroying the fabric of a nation. Hope you get my point.
