56% of Americans still believe Hiroshima bombing was justified – poll

Most of your American allies still believe this was justified, because you are non-white, hence your people had to be the first guinea pig for the nuclear experiment.

Germany would have been bombed if they held out longer.Fortunately uncle Adolf had the decency to blow his brains out and Admiral Donitz was more sane in the head and surrendered.

Germany was too close to the Western European heartland, unlike four small isolated islands like Japan, so I don't think they gonna nuke it even it refused to surrender.

The US maybe have the desire to nuke Russia, but definitely not Germany, a Western European nation.

I also like to see things not just in the lens of diplomacy and mechanics. I like to consider the spiritualist explanation of why things happened the way it happened. The Japanese Empire was clearly an aggressive power, many injustices were done onto many Asian and Western peoples by Japanese Soldiers. Japanese Empire caused massive deaths, in the tens of millions in Asia, in a war that was , for all practical senses, a War of National Vanity.

When the world was changing and seeing the gradual demise of imperialism, Japan was fighting for a decaying ideology--- an Imperialist Ideology. It was a vain attempt really, the consequence of the war, was due to poor planning by the Japanese Military Government, and the propaganda machine enacted by the state government.

Mind you that the Japanese Military Government not only lied about the prospects of the war, fooling the public that the Empire was winning against the Allies, all the way until American Bombers were flying over Sacred Japanese Airspace and dropping bombs on Sacred Japanese Soil.

Never again shall Government of Japan have a role in controlling media in such a nefarious and insipid way. What did we gain in that war? We lost our core territories, we lost over 3.5 million soldiers, over 1 million civilian casualties, and we inflicted over 40 million deaths in Asia.

Introspectively, my friend, Japan was the 'Evil' in that war. I hate to say this, and i mean in no disrespect to our revered war dead because they fought honorably, but I blame the Government in Japan for leading us towards a course of war. When diplomacy could have been chosen could have been possible. Instead, the Military Government chose a path towards war.

God Punished Japan with defeat. And a once Mighty, and Proud Empire and People were brought Low.

So it makes it okay for US to kill civilians? Then why do you cry so much when the opposite side does the same?

And how many died due to atomic bombings?

It makes it somehow justifiable to do it to save more civilians than those killed in the bombing."Ok" is certainly not the word to be associated with this situation.

From the ashes of that destructive war, came forth the current world order. Japan is now a Democracy, no longer an Imperialist Hegemonic Power. I prefer the Japan of now than the Japan of the past, an Imperialistic one that driven by racist ideology that saw the Superiority of the Japanese "Race" and the "Inferiority" of other subject peoples.

Sometimes, we have to consider why things happened the way it did. It was God's Will that Japan was defeated, and that America was victorious.

Things happen for a reason.

it must have been the nuclear talks with iran that triggered the american mind to answer the survey like this , nuclear , nuke , same according to the american mind set

I agree with you ... but the world was like this , not just in East Asia , if you see the condition Europe that time , they are also fighting for Supremacy .. Japan was one of the Greatest Empire in world's History along with French , British , Russian and all ... the world was Changing , along with the Military tactics , Imagine if WW2 start after the Nuclear tests , could that be possible ,? and if it does than the Destruction will be beyond our measures ..

World War 2 does bring lots of Empires to their knees , ( no offense ) but it teaches us ( humans ) a lot of lessons ..even though i do not believe that the world is a better place now ... but at least now the Empires are not fighting over control for Territories ...

Every super Power has seen Downfall , Only God ( Allah ) can never see the Downfall , Even the Islamic Empire see the Downfall , but the thing is that what we learn from it ... and Japan Learn their Lesson and move way to forward ...which is again a Achievement in itself ....

I think what matters the most is that Iran seems to be cooperative and we have to have good faith in their promises. Faith is necessary in relationships; individual organic ones to the National Polity Level.

Either way, its a victory of epic proportions to see and have Iranian Entente with the rest of the world community.

This is a good thing.

Amin, my brother. Only God is worthy of eternal honor, praise, and glory everlasting.

God Is Great...!

He is the Only Great.....

Not really, the Imperial Japan was short lived and never controlled over 1/3 of China's territory.

And how could a great Empire get slaughtered by the US?

They say, "those who live by the sword, will die by the sword." Japan expanded militarily, with the sword. So, we fell by the sword.

All military empires collapse, every single one. The only ones that do not collapse are ones that are faith based oriented, i suppose. Those last. Despite political changes.

iran does cooperate cause it's weak , japan used to cooperate too , they learned how to build battleships from the Brits , iran might some day end up like japan , not literally , but metaphorically
