What's new

47:84 Ning ZT 宁泽涛 1st Asian to win 100m FS swmm'g @ FINA World Champ

.
this guy could be very successful as a super model in fashion world with his 1.91m body build, but instead he won the title in the most important event in swimming. this is the first time in history that asian man got into the final 8 in this event in world championship, let alone the gold medal. but overall asian swimming just means china and japan, nobody else.

i am a big fan of swimming, it is good to see new generation of chinese top male swimmers usually have body builds on par to western players, with around 1.90m as normal height, like Ning, and around 2m as really tall, like Sun Yang. i personally think chinese is very talented on swimming, much more so than say in track and field events, where the black players have the talents that other people are not even close to in most events.

Damn I am 182 so can't be a model despite being handsome so get stuck with current job ... :(

On topic, within Asia, you are right that Japan and China lead in this sports by far. In 2014 Asian Games, 34 nations participated in swimming, only 8 won medals. Koreans, Singaporeans & HKers are catching up as well, even India got a medal.

well what i mean is that you can not just have one star shining in a period of time, then after this guy retired your whole team just disappeared...this is most of the cases in other asian countries other than japan and china. china won medals on every single event in yesterday's 5 finals, that means something.

You are right, fundamentally speaking that's national strength!

2 gold and 4 bronze!
And all semi-final players made it to finals!

The jealous Western racists destroyed her spirit in 2012 with all the accusations. Ye Shiwen has been demoralised which is exactly what the Western racists wanted to do. The West don't like the rise of China in anything (economics, finance, military, technology, brands, etc) and sport is another area Western racists are fearful of China's rise and Western decline. Especially swimming which the West has a total monopoly over and which contributes so many medals in the Olympics to make sure Western countries top the medal tables with their swimming dominance.

It's funny when a Western swimmer never gets questioned when they do extraordinary times (like Kate Ledecky) but when a non-Western person wins something, it's suspicious.

Knowing the things the people in the NBA, NFL, MLB, cycling, athletics have taken, and the things they take to hide it, non-Western swimmers are competing from a disadvantaged position. Don't ever assume these Western swimmers are clean as they appear to be. Lance Armstrongs are not just in cycling. They just have better methods of hiding what they take, just like Lance Armstrong.

Sooner people wake up to this hypocrisy, the better. It's like the West accusing Russia and China of spying and the West acting like clean when Snowden and Assange showed otherwise. Or when the West accuse others of humans rights abuses while acting clean when things like Guantanamo Bay, Abu Graib, use of depleted uranium, agent orange, etc are ignored.
Or when West accuse China of bullying when all the West have done is bully and destroy countries for the past 500 years with its endless wars killing innocent children ON EVERY CONTINENT.
Or when the West accuses others of stealing intellectual property when the entire history of the Western dominance was built on stealing the technology of the non-Western people centuries ago.

Only fools believe the West will give you a fair contest. The West will change the rules when non-Westerners catchup. It's how they operate. It's one rule for the West and another rule for others. The West wants rules to be followed by others but not be followed by them.

Trust me, when competing against the West in ANYTHING, it's NEVER EVER a fair contest.

And the greatest cheat of all sport is an American , Lance Armstrong!

Chinese swimmers are doing quite well i must say. Our swimmers have performed very well as well. In fact our grwat young swimmer James guy beat Sun Yang to win the 200m free style anf he also came second in the 400m freetyle just behind sun yang by not much .:) and funny thing is it is his first world swimming championship ever.
Amaze to see china is now among the top 3/4 swimming nations in the world. Impressive result. Japan isnt doing too well this year like theybdid last world swimming championship. However still some events remsining for japan to take home some medals. I wss shocked to find out that the gold medal jaoanese swimmer honshi won yesterday was tbe first gold medal ever for a Japanese female swimmer at the world championships. @Nihonjin1051 . WTH?

We are third on the medal table though, not bad at all. :)

Great. But in the classification its includes diving and the likes. The other they talking about is just swimming, diving not included. i know chinese have always domonated diving. However , china starting to do so well in swimming is quite new and welcome as competition gets tougher and morw interesting.

Swimming is generally a rich-country sport.

To be a consistent swimming power you need:
1) Money.
2) Swimming facilities.
3) Talent.
4) Coaching.

China has emerged as a swimming power. Many youngsters making finals in both men and women.

China won't be the only country emerging in swimming. You will see Brazil and Russia become major swimming powers.

People from around the world will move to China to use the swimming facilities and learn.
