What's new

4 US soldiers dead in Taliban attack on Bagram Air Base.

What are taliban trying to say to the Americans and Karzai while they are talking to them in Doha and on the other hand attacking extremely well protected targets like Bagram Air base and Kabul's main air port?
@muse @Icarus @F.O.X @Yzd Khalifa ?

Karzai dint like direct talks of US with Taliban.

With the return of Nawaz in Pakistan, do expect the return of Talibans too in Afghanistan - of course with the blessings of KSA.

I don't mind that at all
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for an attack that killed four US troops in Afghanistan, just hours after Washington announced planned talks with the insurgents.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said: "Last night two big rockets were launched at Bagram (air base) which hit the target. Four soldiers are dead and six others are wounded. The rockets caused a major fire."

When Pakistan talks of the dialogues with Taliban it gets sabotaged just before a breakthrough... same is the case here with Americans doing dialogues with Talibans. It looks like a tit for tat scenario - you screwed our dialogues, we'll do yours too.

Sir Afghan Taliban never said they would not attack USA soldiers as long as talks are going on so it is different

That they would not tolerate a single American soldiers on their soil and Taliban would rule Afghanistan again and Afghan Army has not chance to stand against them

Whether you like it or not US will stay and there will be such unfortunate losses. The ANA will not vanish this time and nor will the US. The worst that can happen will be an uneasy stalemate and pin prick IED explosions. The day the Taliban or TTP try a mass assault like after the Russians left a daisy cutter will settle the issue. One of the most important factor in this whole game is that survival of both ANA and PA are now fully linked to checkmating the Taliban (not defeating) as there is only one Taliban and it is ruled by a one eyed Afghani Man. He is Emir of both good and bad Taliban and the end result with be a medieval Pashtunistan carved out of parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan so Zravan the west is not fighting for its survival but your country is probably going to have to if your predictions come true.

Well Karzai is a party to these talks just like Pakistan.

Well that is a pretty interesting way to look at it...worthy of debate.

The Taliban is a loose coalition of opportunist and hence they cannot be switched off like a tap. Talks can continue and such incidents will happen. People like you have been claiming that the good Taliban has ordered stoppage of attacks by the bad Taliban yet in the last three days more then 100 people died in Pakistan and the Good Taliban has never condemned it?

In a major milestone in the 12-year-old war, political representatives of the Taliban will shortly meet Afghan and US officials in Doha, the capital of Qatar, to discuss an agenda for what US officials called "peace and reconciliation" before further talks take place with Afghan government representatives soon after.

Earlier the Taliban, in a statement announcing their plans for peace talks and an office in Qatar, said they would not allow anyone to threaten or harm other countries from Afghan soil – a move senior US administration officials described as an important first step to the Taliban severing ties with al-Qaida.

The one eyed Emir of the real Pastunistan in the making does not recognise the Durand Line so it is anyone guess where his future Afghani soil will end.

The US will maintain a base and support the ANA through Air support. That will continue and that is something the Taliban will have to accept.

They will never accept that Sir they will make sure USA runs away destroying one base wouldn't be much of a problem that base would come under attack again and again and again so USA has no option other than to run away
