Care to elaborate on your observation on what is junk or not?

I for one think that these are useful boats and with proper upgrades here and there, they can be formidable unit to patrol our oceans. They are not the best but we are not also disihing out top dollars and money is not commnig out of our ears as well.

For the money spent, they represent the best that could have been done given the time constraint and long lead period required for acquisition of western platform and the upcommnig retirment of the type 21's.

Is PN getting more F-22P FFG? If my memory is good, 054A FFG has not been inducted when the F-22P order was placed. But now PLAN has received 10+ 054As, which demonstrates PLAN's confidence in them. Will PN change cancel the F-22P order and get 054A instead?

F22P came at $175 million a piece (includes basic set of HQ7 and C802 missiles and other ordnance like ASW torps as well as costs of Harbin Z-9 ASW chopper). So, say about $150 milion for just the ship. Expect the 054A to set you back at least $245 million a piece exclusive any weapons (missiles, torps, chopper etc).
