On Saturday, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy hailed Priya Saha – the Bangladeshi Hindu who told Trump minorities were being persecuted in Bangladesh – saying at least the world knows about Hindus, Buddhists and Christians who faces oppression there.

He claimed nearly 12.5 million minorities had been driven out and there were major pogroms in 1950, 1964, 1971 and 2001.

He wrote: “The escaped Hindus faced a stateless status here and were in constant fear of pushback. Only recently the Hon'ble Union Home Minister has declared that no Hindu refugee will be sent back,and God bless him for that. But as I have repeatedly said, the lot of Bangladeshi Hindus will not improve substantially till their first cousins, the Hindus of West Bengal, wake up to their condition. The greed for block Muslim votes have caused the Marxist and 'Secularist' leaders of W Bengal to ignore their travails, and instead welcome the radicalized Muslim Rohingiyas and infiltrators. The majority Hindus of W Bengal are also being marginalised by Muslim pressure. Unless this is set right, Bengali Hindus as a ethno-religio-linguistic group will vanish from the face of the earth in 50 years..”

A Bangladeshi Hindu woman will be tried for sedition after she told US President Donald Trump in Washington that the minority communities in her country were being persecuted, according to a minister.


Priya Saha, organising secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (HBCUC), attended a meeting at the White House on July 19 and a video of the meeting with Trump subsequently went viral on social media and sparked widespread controversy back home.
In the video, she was seen identifying herself as a Bangladeshi national and telling the US President that 37 million people of the minority groups disappeared from Bangladesh.
Reacting to her statement, Road Transport Minister and ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader told reporters that she has made a "false, purposeful and treasonous remarks".

She will use any criminal charges to bolster an asylum claim and become an actual newstory.

Literacy rate and fertility rate between Bangladeshis and Indians are similar. In Bangladesh not much difference in those stats between Hindus and Muslims....

Construction started in early 60s...it was completed in 75. East Pakistan was well aware of its repercussions but could not stop it. So yes BD definitely could not stop it....it was and is beholden to India for its political creation.

It’s true that it was started in 60s, however, the then president General Ayub khan declared that if India build the dam, Pakistan will be happy to bomb it to the ground. India never dared to complete the project until the fall of East Pak.

We got played by the sworn enemy, thus we are paying the price today.
