The TDP government led by Chandrababu Naidu has demolished as many as 30 temples in Vijayawada and is planning to demolish another 11 temples without concerning the sentiments of the people. The action of the government was faulted by Peethadipathis and Mathadipadis.
The temples demolished included the oldest Seethammavari Padalu, Rahu-Ketu temple, Vinayaka temple on the river belt of Krishna, Sai Baba temple, Swayambhoo Ammavari temple at Bhavanipuram, decades old Gosala at Arjuna street, Krishna temple, Bavaji matham, Vijayeswara Swami, Varasiddi Vnayaka temple among others.
Sources said that the demolition of temples is meant for the conduct of Krishna River Pushkaram works. The appeal by the temple priests that they would move the main statues in accordance with the Sastras was unheard. The demolition process was being conducted in the supervision of Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani and District Collector Ahmed Babu.
YSRCP, BJP expressed its anger over the removal of temples in a high pitch. BJP MP Gokaraju Ganga Raju attacked the government over the demolition.
Rally on July 4:: Saiva Shetram Peethadipati Siva Swami held discussions with various Mathadipadis and representatives of Hindu organization. A huge protest rally would be taken up on July 4 . Sources said that nearly 300 Peethadipathis and thousands of representatives of Hindu organizations, devotees from other States will participate in the rally.
Demolition was done only for Pushkaram work’, says Manikyala Rao:: Minister for Endowments P.Manikyala Rao supporting the action of the government said that the officials have demolished the temples only for Pushkaram works and not for their personal needs or to protect their own properties. Pushkarams are being conducted for Hindus and the officials probably demolished as they come in the way of ongoing works. He said that arrangements are being made as the inflow of pilgrims for Pushkarams are expected to be on high in Sri Sailam and Vijayawada.

If they wanted to remove temples for expansion of roads, there is a much better way to go about it than what he is doing now....

no problem ,Hinduism is not shallow ,we will construct those 30 temples some where else and still pray peacefully. only concern is I hope they don't demolish old temples with some historic significance .

Not for road extension.. there is plans to give river front to Singapore companies for amusement parks and so.. If he remove these temples that time it will become big issue.. so he is removing decades old temples withoutnotice in the name of ghats ...

Why do you bring religion here? why can't you say jagan?

Naidu demolishing all temples, churches and masjid within the core capital.. Singapore company want full rights for 2000 acres.. ironically their investment is 300cr.. each acre cost 10cr in this area.. they will develop and sell this 2000 acre at their will and price, state govt will have no share or income from this area.. any dispute will be subject to Courts in london.. they will not pay compensation to the farmers .. state govt will pay compensation.. plots must be alotted 5km away from this area to the farmers who gave land..

Where did I blame christians?
I gave certain info about Jagan & his family that are part of the discourse of this topic.
His family tried to loot Hindu temples property, which can be part of the discourse. The reasons behind it are mentioned by me.

Again, I am not blaming Christians. I am blaming "A" christian. Just like I would blame "any" Hindu who would harm others for religion.

Demolishing temples (and also Mosques and Churches) for developmental purposes is not wrong. These structures were built by men and not by the almighty. Religious structures are equivalent to trees. When we destroy one, four new ones should be planted in safer places.

I would not have objected to demolishment of temples, if they were built a century ago. But razing temples which have existed for more than 100 years do not deserve to be demolished for a road or a building which might not even last half a century.
In India,governments are often reticent when it comes to hurting the sentiments of minorities but Hindu sentiments are taken for granted. It's always assumed that Hindus won't protest or are not expected to protest.

Any Hindu who happens to be mildly religious or demands for his rights as the majority in the country gets bracketed as a sanghi.
This is frustrating!

To someone like me who takes interest in temple architecture,such demolishments come as a huge loss.
By the time we realise what we have lost it might be too late.

No actually some these construction are decades old,without notice they are demolishing .. actual reason not for ghats but river front proposal from Singapore companies.. they are seeking lands in capital region..
