Ford unveiled the 2018 Ford Mustang convertible on Friday without dropping any details on the engine upgrades coming to the EcoBoost four or beefy 5.0-liter V8. We saw the 2018 Ford Mustang coupe break cover earlier this week during the public days of the Detroit auto show.

The only real difference we can spot is the folding soft top. The 2018 Mustang convertible gets the same 10-speed automatic transmission and MagneRide suspension as the coupe.

Technology carries over between the two as well. The customizable 12-inch instrument cluster and new driver-assist features are available, along with the three new paint colors and 12 wheel choices.

The 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible will be touring at 50 regional auto shows across the country before it goes on sale later this fall.

More changes are under the hood.

They need to reduce the weight of the car... use high strength aluminum to build the chassis like GM is doing with most of their cars and in comparison with their camaro.
