2014 is not 1962 - Indian Much Better Prepared for Chinese Challenge

. .
By the way, have you visited Sikkim or Arunachal Pradesh??I have and the static defences that have come up online lately are truely impressive.
Do tell me about the "impressive" defenses that have come up in my state please.I must have been blind as a bat not to notice the massive Indian build up.:coffee:

.
Lost what debate?

Even the Indian Army itself has already admitted: "India cannot match China by any conventional or non-conventional means, and the gap is growing larger every day".

Which makes sense because China's GDP is $10.4 trillion, even our $4 trillion currency reserves are more than double the Indian GDP. And our military spending is soaring. You have no chance of matching us.

Even the Indian Army itself admitted it. :P

Copy-paste post number 56.

I guess that makes what he posted untrue. Oh wait...

Or perhaps Indian sarcasm and denial will help bridge the huge disparity between Chinese and Indian GDP? Is that part of Modi's new economic plan?

It's pretty much standard like concrete structures, interconnected to each other by communication trenches.Whoever has visited the frontiers, can not miss them.

Yes,yes,That's right.Fortified bunkers and shit.:omghaha:
India doesn't even have proper, large army bases in AP.Last heard they were desperately trying to purchase land for a proper base in Pasighat, one of the only plain areas in AP and a communication and transport heart of AP and failing miserably...the locals being apprehensive of Indian army and its reputation for dealing with civilian women.

Nor is there proper infrastructure to support a large defensive force or even properly resupply the existing meagre ones. The roads are so bad that they can't support efficient movement of troops and supplies, with only one bridge over the siang. The Chinese take that bridge out and the whole resupply route will be in chaos.

I can see you have never been to AP.

How could Indians never understand it? Or it's perhaps one of India's grand strategies in international politics. 8-)

As i said its not just the Indians(though i know they whine/cry/still feel bad alot about their humiliating defeat to China decades ago), it also applies to several Asian countries who still allow history to haunt them. Its the case with Vietnam/india towards China, China/South Korea towards Japan, Cambodia/Laos towards Vietnam, Singapore towards Malaysia, Bengladesh/Pakistan towards India, etc.... These countries should all move on and try to forget/forgive about the past. Afterall, unlike the Chinese still demanding an apology from us for the opium wars/from Japan for world war II etc, the U.S whom we invaded/colonised and even burnt their white house/presidential palace hasn't ever asked for an excuse from us, they have moved on like a mature country/power should do and even forged an alliance with their former colonial master. Im sure if it was an asian country who was in U.S position, then we will never be allies today, we will still be fighting over historical issues/events and arguing over who's version of history is correct/apologies etc.lool:lol: Its really getting tiring/boring man, especially when 'big'/powerful countries still react this way.:disagree: Time to move on and act like adults/mature powers.:yu::coffee:

I hope India is not the same back stabbing opportunist like in 1962, invading when China was starving.

China is ready for Indian adventurism this time, not like in 1962.

No sane country will invade with another with a few hundred men, scattered over many miles.

That's because America is the successor power to Britain (both Anglo-Saxon powers), and they are ideologically almost the same.

The Native Americans on the other hand still are pissed off, and those are the actual natives of North America.

The difference is Native Americans do not control American or Canadian foreign policy, their presence and influence there is around zero.

And China is not the China of 1962
True in an open field.
But over himalayas attacking first if the enemy has forfified properly will lead to huge irreparable casualties.Hence difficult.

But if chinese want to win ,,they will hands down simply because we cannot afford war for long time,,,same as india vs pakistan.

Difference----No himalayas between india and pakistan.

@nair And you have given them a walkover in the very 2nd ball. :D

Yes, both India and China are not the India and China of 1962, but the defense scenario has changed a lot. In 1962 we barely had a army, and whatever we had were posted on Pakistan border, Nehru didn't expect a war with China, neither he fought the war even after China attacked us, he remained confused and undecided for the entire month of the war.

What has changed since 1962 is that the Indian army has become a far more stronger and modern force with fortified position on China border too, we no more think that China won't attack us, that's a change for sure. China has also modernized and become stronger, more than us, but they are not America, not even close, they have limited number of modern weapons with large stockpile of old generation equipment, they can win a war against us only if it is a long-drawn full-scale war, we with lesser resources will wear out faster than them.
But can China really afford a long-drawn full-scale war with India? Whatever they have achieved in last few decades will be lost, we are also a big country with a very large and credible army, the cost will be too high to start a full-scale war against us. If they go for a border skirmish or limited war, that we are very much capable of defending anyway, Himalayas will also be our advantage. So if they want to win the war, they will have little option but to make it a long-drawn full-scale war to wear us out, something they cannot afford to do.
So we have managed to achieve enough capabilities to ensure a stalemate, something that we didn't have back in 1962..

Of course India is.
Some posts that we are likely to see -

1. India to become superpower - India to become superpower by 2012: Kalam - Economic Times

2. India does not have toilets

3. China adds India's GDP every 2-3 years

4. India's GDP reduced from 5.7 to 5.3%

5. India's Muslim population will be 50% and there may be Partition 2.0

6. Terrorist PM is elected, so Muslims will create new country

7. China is going to fix India's Forward Policy

8. Nehru attacked China when China was amidst a famine

9. China is stronger than ever before

10. Hope Pakistan does not miss the chance like Ayub did in 1962....etc etc

Good one. :D

Do you have a source...or any evidence at all that China is still demanding an apology from the UK for the Opium Wars? Or is this another one of your infamous unsubstantiated claims?

Just like in 1962, will will again be the one "defending" against a perceived Indian Forward Policy 2.0, we will not be the aggressor, so it will have essentially zero impact on other areas.

It wasn't China, but Nehru who declared 1962 war - The Times of India

Now the question for India is, IF India grows some guts and throws out Chinese soldiers during another "Chinese incursion", will China see that as another Forward Policy?

As the Indian Army itself already said multiple times, India cannot hope to win against China, and the gap is growing larger every day. Look at our border infrastructure, our defence budget, the number of weapons platforms we can bring to bear at any point along the LAC. Due to our superior infrastructure and greater number of weapons platforms, we will be able to bring a greater "force concentration" to any point along the LAC at lightning speed, massively overwhelming anything India can bring with their lack of border infrastructure. At every single point along the LAC.

The Indian Army believes they can't win against China, due to simple practical considerations like this, border infrastructure, weapons platforms, defence production rates and strategic reserves.

That's why India never throws out Chinese soldiers during those so-called "Chinese incursions", we just hear them crying constantly but unable to do anything.

My question is - in the future, if India were to backstab China again, even as J-20s shoot their LCAs out of the sky and as China inflicts a K:D ratio of 5 to 1 while taking thousands of Indian POWs with not a single Chinese soldier being taken prisoner, will the Indians still be so delusional to claim that they "heroically fought to the last man while being overwhelmed by human wave attacks." I suspect they will still accuse China of using "human wave" tactics in the 21st century.
