2011 Poverty Rates in South Asia

 You are a joke mate.

IDGAF if Bangladesh's poverty is 31% and IDGAF if Bangladesh is richer than India, good for you lots.

The only issues I have,

-UNDP HD 2011 report, doesn't say that Bangladesh's poverty is 31%, contrary to what your little newspapers are claiming. It says its 49.6%(Based on the most recent data available for any year in between 2000-2009), already said that in my last post! So you are not busting anything!

- If that news reports have said that Bangladesh's poverty is 31% according to some other xyz report, I wouldn't have an issue.

- You were using India's outdated data of 41.6%((Based on the latest data available for any year in between 2000-2009) to compare it with the latest local data for Bangladesh(31%). You go all ape sh*t crazy about the old data for Bangladesh, but you have no issues using the same for India.

You compare old data with old data, and latest data with latest. As simple as that.

========================================================================

Thats all I got to say, don't bother replying, its getting tedious and too drunk for this.

later.

Go through my previous posts... I have asked you to provide up to date data if you think this 41.6% is an old data. Did not I ask for it?? It is you who is trolling continuously with the old data.

N reduction of poverty does not mean rich always. Pakistan has much less poor people compared to India and Bangladesh but does not necessarily mean it is richer.

For the case of Bangladesh I can say wealth is evenly distributed unlike India where only a small segment of people has lots of wealth whereas majority of the people are poor.

In recent year there are many reasons for reduction of poverty... as you know it clearly RMG sector is almost run by the females, micro finance is also playing a big role along with remittances to reduce poverty. India's 2.5% gdp growth comes from IT sector but employs only 2.5 million people. If you take this example only... you can see it sounds good 8% GDP growth but in reality a very few portion of people is getting the benefit in India by this growth. This is without call center and other service sectors of India. In bangladesh still there are no contribution of IT sector like India.. though in the coming year it is expected to play a big role.

I forgot to add huge government subsidy is also playing a big role to reduce poverty but honestly speaking hindering many necessary infra and power sector development.

How am I trolling? Thats the data used by the UN for the 2011 report! My only point of contention was that the UN report doesn't give the 31% figure for Bangladesh anywhere.

I believe the new poverty data for India will be out in January, 2012, so no I don't have the new data to provide here. Although predictions from WB and UN looks promising.

Good for Bangladesh, my best wishes to your country. Let Indians worry about India, Bangladeshis worry about Bangladesh.

Contrary to the government’s claims, which put the number of poor people in India to be around 37.5% (as per the Tendulkar committee), the latest report by the United Nations has claimed that 41.6% of Indians live for less than a dollar a day.

MOD EDIT: No need to flame
