2009 pakistan war

Instead of playing on assumptions, let see how they react, moving a Battle group from gulf does not mean that they are moving in to support ISAF. It can be a bluff for Iran as well. They are still not far from Iran. Maybe they are giving room for Israelis for any possible pre emptive strike.

Its not the Soviet airforce but the US airforce Pakistan will face though. A very different ball game.

sssSo you want to say that we do nothing, just sit backand watch, and US continue capitalize on our weekness.

I think, based on availability of US assets in Afghnistan and Sea (Aircraft Carrier), Pakistan is in a far better position to ward off US endavour. It simply requires that, Pakistani Forces play thier cards very carefully, and not let the situation out of controll.

If PAF F-16s are patrolling on our side of border, its any country's right to guard its air frontiers.

Thats a poor suggestion and more of a wish as the Pakistan Army is already that size.

Furthermore how do you propose a country already facing economic hardship to support such a force?

The fact of the matter is that for years the Pakistan Army has been preparing for war with India and that they are not trained as well for low intensity conflicts and counter insurgency.

They are doing what they can although to be properly unleashed requires the go ahead from the GoP

Not at all I am commenting on the vast difference between facing the most powerful airforce in the world as opposed to the second.

Careful tact is required though I agree with what you have posted.

What about the status of the battle-hardened Iraqi Armed forces in 1990?

The Iraqi Military was the 4th largest in the world and was among the best in muslim nations at that time.

We should not ignore this fact.

Iraqi army consisted of around a million personnel. Of these around 250,000 were republican guards. Only they were comparable to any regular army troops rest were either conscripts or poorly trained.
While PA has around 600,000 troops and more than 500,000 of these are regular troops. Therefore my point is still valid that after Vietnam this might be the toughest battleground for the US.

USA is not going to invade PAKISTAN rather they have planned a surgical operation means to attack specific areas of they so called terrorist occupied places by bombers, jet fighters n missiles ,may be in some place have commandos operations , its not kinda of full fledged war against PAKISTAN ,,,,
Surely its a direct hit to the sovereignty of PAKISTAN but we must see that in such cases what will be pakistan reaction ,its definite that unfortunately we are deprive of bold leadership ,our leaders are coward and they even cant response to their aggressive media war in which their govt is fully involved .we can take an example of IRANIAN leadership and their brave response toward Americans threats.

, So Pakistan will try best to save it from any major conflict with USA ,

US attack on Pakistan would be a catastrophic mistake. First, air and ground assaults will succeed only in widening the anti-US war and merging it with Afghanistan’s resistance to western occupation. US forces are already too over-stretched to get involved in yet another little war.

Second, Pakistan’s army officers who refuse to be bought may resist a US attack on their homeland, and overthrow the man who allowed it, Gen. Musharraf. A US attack would sharply raise the threat of anti-US extremists seizing control of strategic Pakistan and marginalize those seeking return to democratic government.

Third, a US attack on the tribal areas could re-ignite the old irredentist movement to reunite Pashtun parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan into an independent state, "Pashtunistan." That could begin unraveling fragile Pakistan, leaving its nuclear arsenal up for grabs, and India tempted to intervene.

The US military has grown used to attacking small, weak nations like Grenada, Panama, and Iraq. Pakistan, with 163 million people, and a poorly equipped but very tough 550,000-man army, will offer no easy victories. Those Bush Administration officials who foolishly advocate attacking Pakistan are playing with fire.
