2 Pak aircraft detected flying close to Indian air space: IAF
PTI, Jan 19, 2011, 08.53pm IST

JAMMU/NEW DELHI: Two Pakistani aircraft on Wednesday flew close to the international border in the Jammu sector, triggering an air defence alert of the Indian Air Force.

The two low-flying Pakistani light aircraft were detected close to Indian territory and were sighted by BSF troops deployed in the R S Pura Sector in Jammu, Indian Air Force sources said.

"Their movement and approach were picked up by our sensors and radars," they said.

Thought the aircraft were flying in Pakistani territory, it was a breach of agreement between the two sides barring flying of fixed-wing aircraft in 10 km area from each side of the international boundary, they said.

"As per its standard operating procedures (SOP), IAF responds in such situation looking at the level of threat posed by the aircraft," they said, without giving details.

The SOP could range from activating its surface-to-air missile batteries to scrambling of fighter aircraft located close to the area.

Assets such as the airborne early warning and control systems ( AWACS) and the aerostat radars and chain of ground-based radars allows the IAF to look beyond its boundaries.

The issue, the sources said, would also be taken up with Pakistani authorities through the external affairs ministry.

In the last three years, Pakistan's military aircraft, helicopters and spy drones or unmanned aerial vehicles have violated Indian airspace on 23 occasions.

.
after 2002, i have no information Pakistani UAVs flying near the disputed territory; perhaps someone can shed more light on the recent alleged incidents

just a light plane yet start growling ? :pakistan:

. .
I am very happy that these planes were detected.

It shows the readiness of the Indian radar network.

.
We deserve to be threatened of surgical strikes by the Indian Govt. after such a serious violation............ :d

.
well maybe the indians are learning how to use the AWACS and hence are just shocked at the amount of things their radar shows them!

but a similar violation was done by indian SU-30 MKIs after the 2008 buildup after the mumbai episode! & at that point in time pakistan showed the images to the USA and all the allies.:coffee:

so theire is a 10 kms no fly zone on both sides of the border for both parties hence making anyone entering within 10 kms of either side of the border as a hostile threat!

May I say --> The Indian govt. is Pakistan's biggest well wisher. Only words, no action.

Thank your stars that the Indian army chiefs are not as ambitious, role expansionists and power hungry as your army chiefs.

.
so finally IAF started their radar controlling operations. wakey wakey...:lazy2:
or they might have used Phelcon for the first time near Pakistani border :D

Thank your stars that the Indian army chiefs are not as ambitious, role expansionists and power hungry as your army chiefs

They know what will be coming for them. They realize it and are behaving wise till now. We hope they would behave same in the future also.
