UK hands over two copters to ANF

ISLAMABAD: The Ambassador of United Kingdom to Pakistan Robert Brinkley on Thursday handed over two helicopters to the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) to enhance its capability in the fight against the narcotics menace.

The helicopters were delivered to ANF Director General Major General Khalid Amir Jaffery here. Minister for Narcotics Control Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Secretary of the Ministry of Narcotics Control, KB Rind and high ranking officers of the Ministry and ANF attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion Brinkley said the provision of anti narcotics assistance was just one example of the time-tested relationship between the government of UK and Pakistan.

He assured that the British Government would continue to support the ANF in its fight against narcotics and its untiring efforts to block the influx of opiates.

"These helicopters are suited to the difficult terrain in Pakistan's border area and would allow the ANF to respond much more quickly in Balochistan where these helicopters will be employed," he added.

British govt. has provided two Mi-17 helicopters to Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to enhance its efforts to reduce the drugs activities/production and launch agressive drive against the poppy cultivation. these helicopters are suited for the difficult terrain in pakistans border areas and would allow the ANF to respond much more quickly in baluchistan where these helicopters will be deployed.

Mi-17s are available world-wide. they can be purchased on the commercial market. no need to buy directly from Russia or Ukraine.

recently PN got Aloutte helicopters (french origion) from the UK also.
