Does anyone think that there is a possibility of squeezing some extra funding into IN's budget to alter the P-75i project? If I am not mistaken the follow on class would have greater tonnage as compared to the current Scorpene class. So why not up the ante, have 2-3 ships constructed at a foreign shipyard right away, and 5-6 in India, while inking a concurrent deal for assistance on India's N-sub program along the lines of what Brazil is doing with their XL Scorpene program with DCNS?

Indian Navy will buy 2 subs of the shelves because of the depleting sub force , further 6 subs will be built inhouse under the project 75i .

Will first 4 scorpenes have space for AIP which would be later equipped or they will be enlarged by cutting and adding new compartments in it during AIP fitting?

No space ......... They will have to cut it open and add the AIP module in a later stage .
