So put IAF on hold for 6hrs you people flew that much of sorties?.... Ha ha ha...hilarious.....
The real mission was to takeout IAF's planes and when the mission failed totally you people changed the goal as to damage the airbase and bla bla...... No one will believe paf send a waves of attack against IAF airbases to damage the base but not its aircrafts......... You Pakistanis so nice jokers

And you Indians are nothing but Drama queens, shooting war had already started in Eastern sector in the last weeks of November including air combat with casualties on both sides, while the war clouds gathered over the subcontinent, could any body have expected the IAF to leave it's aircraft in open specially after the experience of 1965 when some half of Indian aircraft losses occurred on the ground.....get your facts right before blabbering on.

How many PAF bases IAF put out of order? The fact is you could not even put Dhaka air base out of order permanently. With around 200 IAF fighters against 16 PAF fighters you could not even put that air base out of order.

It is better to think before one speaks.

@AUSTERLITZ

You are arguing just for the sake of it, let me remind you the capability difference between the F-104 (PAF) and MiG-21.
The PAF retired it's F-104s some 40 years ago where as the MiG still flies with the IAF, in fact, PAF inducted derivatives of the MiG-21 in the 80s and 90s. The Starfighter relied on sheer speed and needed a turning radius to that of a 747.
Coming back to highly exaggerated IAF claims, some Indian sources claim 3 F-104s, some say it was 4 while others have even mentioned a figure of 10 destroyed. The PAF started 1971 operation with 7 aircraft and still had four at the end of the war, of the three, 2 were lost in air combat while one fell to ground fire, the IAF on it's part failed to provide any documentary evidence other than some wreckage photos, similarly the IAF claimed six PAF Mirages without a single evidence, PAF OTOH was able to field all the 23 Mirages in it's inventory at the end of the war.
Four IAF MiGs were shot down in dogfights, two in each sector, three fell victim to F-86s while another was shot down by an F-6. Gun camera images of the two shot down in western sector have been widely published while under the circumstance such was not possible from the Eastern sector, however the detailed documentary evidence is there for you to read, even wiki has the details on one of the kills. !!

There is only 1 mig-21 kill in dogfight.5 others lost to ground fire. in 1965 1 mig-21 was destroyed on ground, thats it.A couple others were lost to accidents on take off.And u are forgetting jordan gave u additional starfighters not all of which were returned.

Chuck Yeager hated IAF .. he is far far from a neutral source .. HE was sent by the US govt. to train PAF airforce pilots... you think he would not biased ?

How India brought down the US

Chuck Yeager's aircraft was completely destroyed by none other than the current Admiral of the IN Arun Prakash.

lol. I already showed that part where he himslef accuses the IAF pilot of being petty and shooting his plane on the tarmac of the base. Obviously, no great achievement by the indian pilot. But now any neutral sources we give will always be bias. But when you all give indian sources, then it will always be the truth. LOL.

What a bunch of hypocrites.

lol...you expect me to believe the pilot US sent to train PAF pilots would not be biased to the PAF.... am not the hypocrite here ..this chuck Yeager neutral source thing has been disproved too many times here

You need to update your history, the IAF lost 10 MiG-21s in the war including four in aerial combat, two of these in Eastern sector which fell to the F-86s of N0 14 Squadron.
Apart from others, In his book "The War of the Twins" By Krishna Chandra Sagar, Chapter, "The Winged Angels of India" on page-103, there's a clear mention of two MiGs being lost in dogfights on 4th December.

This data is from accounts of retired vice marshals and air marshals, Google article IAF mig-21s at war.All these people were direct combatants in that war.Pakistani propaganda gone on long enough in this thread.

Yea, the same air marshals who were claiming amongst others, six Mirages, one C-130 and Ten F-104s and all of No 14 Squadron's F-86 Sabres. Their must be the ultimate word in reality. There is no propaganda however the Indian bubble gets busted as no Pakistani author goes by the name of Krishna Chandra Sagar,. period. !!

Obviously i will go with articles from people who were actually pilots in that war,not civilians.
Every neutral author knows IAF won air war in 1971 decisively, except PAF's buddy and instructor chuck yeager who had his own plane destroyed by IAF and went on a rant at indian embassy screaming and boasting PA would be in delhi in a week and demanding US declaration of war against india to usa embassy.

LOL. U indians are pathetic whiners. Even your own website admits to IAF losses of 75 planes.

Indian Air Force Losses in the 1971 War.

by P V S Jagan Mohan

The Indian Air Force fought on two fronts during the 1971 War. Employing nearly 600 Combat aircraft ranging from New MiG-21 and Sukhoi-7s to the Vintage Harvards and Vampires, the IAF flew nearly 7500 Sorties during the duration of the war. The Following is the list of Losses compiled by us through Various Sources published ever since. You will come up with some startling figures when you go through them, like finding out that 23 aircraft were lost in a matter of two days on both the fronts, or the High number of Hunter Losses. A surprising trend is the increase in attrition of the Canberra . The Losses are given first for the Eastern Sector and then for the Western Sector. Some of the Articles in the 71 War Section give details of the losses. The Figures given below were intially estimated as 61, However have been revised to 75 after the release of the Times of India's Official History of the 1971 War. For the sake of completeness, I have included figures of Army and Naval Aircraft losses as well.

75 includes loss of Indian Army,Indian Navy and Indian Airforce. Its the grand total, not that of Air Force alone.
