1965 war: We achieved air superiority in three days, says Air Force Marshal Arjan Singh

Look at the picture, it speaks thousand words. Since then Iindian chief was living in the world of imaginations and fantasies
One can anticipate about his mental capacity at present days in reference to his age and degeneration of his previously existed rusted capacities.

Let me post photos too. Hear the 1000 words that this picture speaks ( in your words). See how your Chief Rana seems in relation to our General Harbaksh Singh. That too in Lahore.
"Singh ka Ilaka nahi hota! Jahan Singh jaata hai, woh uska ilaka!!!!"

You guys getting carried away by a poor old man's war stories he tells his grandchildren. Let him live off rest of his days believing his efforts meant something. Why its too much to ask for a happy farewell from this world even if its make belief? They "clearly" had air superiority evident from the losses they took.

Sir, you did a good job. Now rest and enjoy the time with family. Leave delusions to the Indian fanboys here.

ok! how about Air marshal Noor Khan ! ask him about 1965 war ~!

Ironically I have done that personally.
But based on the public accounts, they all agree that we would have run out of spares .. but while we were capable of fighting, the PAF was dominant.

Does 65 war hold any relevance today or has the ground situation totally changed in terms of parity?

The reason I asked this because strategies of preemptive attacks and A2G strikes on Indian bases employed quite successfully then may have lost relevance today and in that scenario have the roles and responsibility of PAF changed or been restricted?

NEW DELHI: Arjan Singh was the only officer of the Indian Air Force to be promoted to the five-star rank equivalent to a Field Marshal. Air Marshal Singh led the Indian Air Force in the 1965 war with Pakistan which he says was prematurely terminated on intervention by the United Nations. Had it gone on for a few more days, India's victory would have been decisive.

Born in Punjab town of Lyallpur (now Faisalabad, Pakistan), Singh was Chief of the Air Staff from August 1, 1 ..

But is missing from the article. India achieved air superiority but lost 121 aircraft to PAF and the size of PAF was 120. When PAF challenged the IAF to visit Pakistan after the conflict to physically count the PAF planes IAF never responded.

IAF Chief definitely smoking some good shiit. Must be that Afghan Hash Connection from Karzai.

. .
Sure IAF got full air dominance after 3 days when out of fear of being shot down they totally stopped flying, I guess the this was their secret way of attaining full air dominance. LOL at these indian air chiefs and their believers

Not at all. The whole scenario has changed. 71 was different too in many ways. Whereas in 65 the PAF held the potential to wipe out the IAF on the ground due to being better trained and better organized. By 71, the best it could accomplish in pre-emptive strikes was disruption.

Now, its going to be both of them avoiding each other's airspace the most they can and sticking to stand off weapon systems as much as possible to attack.

Quite an interesting observation having far reaching implication on procurements. Of-course fighters are still necessary as a deterrent purpose as absence of capability on anyone side may render your observation null and void.

Wonder if Indian procurement of Rafales are an attempt to change the status -quo or maintain it excluding China from the equation.

we already have air superiority over indian air space just like in 65 and 71 when IAF chief admitted he could no longer safety of Indian air space...
:o: really ..... thenwhat stopped you from invading india :azn: :haha: :omghaha::omghaha:

@John Doe, dear, I am unable to see the picture you posted, it appears as only written IMG.

To be frankly, personally I like certain birds and animals, but I dont like to compare my heroes with animals, either it be singh/lion etc. etc.

Your above given quote is false, you seems to be in the fantasy of quoting only slogans. Reality is different, lions do have borders and they marked their area by pissing at those borders. The unique smell is a caution for other lions not to enter that partcular area as it belongs to others. Passing that limit is dangerous. That is the rule in jungles, which lions are following.

What is your opinion on that?

Sing and that's made me laugho(`ω´ )o
No offense pahio.

When are you coming out from your kukuland dear.

Dominant where in indian airspace; to sneak into enemy airspace and drop bombs or dominat in the battlefield to support the army in defence or offence, which should be the prime target of the airforce, because you cannot win the war with airforce alone and on the battlefield army on the ground makes the ultimate punch. Whether PAF was dominant in its own airspace i.e pakistani airspace where they fight for its own survival by dogfighting IAF bombers and fighter who were targeting PAF airbase or the fighting against the IAF fighter pounding bombs over Pakistani armour columns is the question. Several pakistani defence personal have indicated this attitute from the PAF about fighting its own war in various publication, but one thing is clear that the pakistani praise too much their PAF.

For that PAF have to strike IAF forward bases with all its resources but do you really think that PAF could have done what Israel had done with the arabs with the element of surprise. PAF could have given IAF powerful blow and setback but IAF with other resources in other part of the country could be diverted later on. PAF was getting lot of help from its other islamic countries, but IAF could also replace the some loses from UK and french at that time.

Never the less 65 was the total surprise for the India and the failure of the intelligence agencies, specially when they miscalculate the location of the 1st armour division in Sialkot region and lead to the formation of RA&W
