19 Reasons Why You Should Never Visit Iran

No doubt you’ve heard a lot about Iran in the media. And it’s true, Iran is a truly evil and terrifying place. Here we present 19 reasons you should never, ever, visit this godforsaken land.

#1. The capital city is basically a ruin.

Tehran’s skyline is truly mediocre.

#2. Everyone lives in a mud shack.

The Tabatabaei house in Kashan is a pretty miserable place to while away your days.

#3. The villages are pretty much what you’d find anywhere else.

If Palangan village, on the border with Iraq, looks mildly impressive, it’s just because of the lighting. Nothing to do with the near-vertical positioning of the houses.

#4. The architecture is plain and lackluster.

Why would anyone want to visit the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque in Shiraz?

#5. Meh.

Oh Shiraz, is this the best you can do?

#6. The women are oppressed and downtrodden.

She looks like she needs someone to liberate her.

#7. Iranians are a grumpy, pool-party-hating bunch.

I would hate to be hanging out with this boring group.

#8. The food is unpalatable and bland.

I wouldn’t touch that stuff with a barge pole.
WoW!! The oppressed woman especially.

Six Iranians arrested for appearing in a video dancing to Pharrell Williams' song Happy have been sentenced to up to one year in prison and 91 lashes, their lawyer says.

Iran: Happy video dancers sentenced to 91 lashes and jail - BBC News

I mean not all but some of the things in article.....let's say "Yes you can do it in Iran"...but prepared to be punished severely.

some of Western style shit is forbidden in Iran due to known reasons... But what @Serpentine wanted to say was that you can have whatever type of pleasure you want in Iran... and yes, even in holy places like Mashhad, you can see youngsters and sometimes oldsters go to wild drug, alcohol and pool parties in thousands in private villas and houses... A tourist can easily talk to a up town looking guy about it and that boy or girl would definitely take him with them to those parties... Iranian government knows about thousands of parties being held in private villas but they just don't care as far as it is private... Most of the times at least!

When the rules were tighter back in Ahmadi nezjad era, I had an American friend along his Danish girl I came to meet in a mall, to one of these parties... both of them saying..they would definitely prefer this type of clean parties to discos who you don't know who are sharing the dance floor with you...

and @Serpentine... It is true that Iranian reality is 360 degree different from what West portray it due to their political agenda...but every body who want to visit Iran must take this into account that: You can find anything in Iran...

1- you can see disastrous villages in some area in Iran... mostly in dry desert regions of South and South Eastern.... at the same time you can see magical villages almost anywhere else in Iran...
2- You can find very religious people in some cities that don't even bare the music and music concerts holding in their cities...always protesting to cancel music concerts... while at the same time, you can see regions mostly of secular life style... In this very much same Iran you can see hundreds of underground music bands... using bihijab girls... girls singing... making sexy videos... rap... rock.... metal... every thing... and government know about them and do mostly nothing... Like Satellite dishes that despite the rules are almost every where and government actually learnet to deal with it...
3- some parts of Tehran and other cities is very bad in form and architecture..but most part of our cities are great and very clean... Best cities in Iran in terms of cleanness and modern architecture are Tehran, Tabriz, Mashhad and Isfahan, Shiraz.... there are some small cities too that are exquisite... some of them are old cities like Jolfa, Shahinshahr, etc.... some are newly built cities... like Binalood, Golbahar, Pardisan, etc....
4- It is a normal saying among youngsters in Iran that "if you want to leave Iran for money or discos and sex, then you,re stupid..as all of them are much easier to have in Iran than West"
5- Iran is a collection of magical, unique touristic places that are yet to be advertised in media...

@Serpentine you forgot to add the biggest and most valuable jewelry collection in world in Tehran...

Based on my personal observations from Western tourists in Iran, all of them, never thought Iran to be such a beautiful and tourist worthy place... they actually named Iran their best choice ever in their list of visited places... There are reasons behind this results... Unique people that despite other nations when they see tourists in cities or in villages, they invite you directly to their homes for dinner and stay... They don't even know them... This unusual habit comes from Iranian culture that see it necessary to bring best time to their guests... you can see this in their houses too... their reception hall is equipped better than their own rooms...

Very exotic sight seeing and touristic places that are not found anywhere else or attractions that they did not know exist...

I believe of Government take it easy for tourists to choose if they want to stay without hijab, then the number of tourists will be ten folds very easily.... Kish Island is a good example... most of mainland rules are loose in Kish, this is why millions decide to go there...
Unlike
major touristic countries like France, Italy, US and somehow Turkey where their touristic attractions is somehow artificially made for tourists and their main stream society is not touristic, Iran is very original... as its attractions are not fixed to please tourists...it is what it is... and people are a part of this attraction...

are you going to have intercourse or playing with it in Public??
No, the point is. All of the photos that SOHEIL showed us has been taken either in private quarters or while nobody is around. I wonder if the photo below could have been shot in the streets of Tehran ?

Mate....it is called "underground parties"....maybe some foreigner back-packers will consider it. But that's no way to attract millions of tourists into your country.

@SOHEIL, I want that, enlighten me with the sheer shine of the bare mere truth. pics please.

@Sinan bro, sure you can't find the women in the above post in streets, or should I say, there is indeed the oppression mentality, but while walking on Tehran or Shiraz streets you can barely find oppressed people.
This is from Shiraz streets:

Iranian version of morality police did arrest the youth who did a video on "I am happy" but then they were released

yes expression of freedom is a subjective term and can have differing reactions (some dont like head scarf in west e.g. France, some dont like unveiled women like KSA or Iran etc)

.
so what is so special to let your sisters and mothers and daughters to go semi-naked into street for others pleasure? are you really Muslim? I doubt it if you like otherwise!! Yes, Iranians get what they want... those who want mosques they go to mosques and those who favor drug/alcohol and sex parties go to their private parties who are held in thousands in Mashhad city only.. let aside Tehran who are more liberal... So Is you sisters, daughters and mothers being semi-naked showing off their attractive body parts to public in Turkey as good thing or a privilege that you say Iranian are n't??
I think you should first learn to be respectful towards people before engaging them in a dialog.

So you say Tourists come to France or Turkey or US for parties? that if we have it under ground then nobody comes???
No, but they mostly come to Turkish Rivera... but If Alcohol, Discos,Sun-bathing in beaches had been forbidden they would look for alternatives.

There are many types of tourists, Iran is focusing on Religious, cultural, historical, sightseeing, nature tourists... which are enough and in tens of millions....
You forgot medical tourists....combine them all and you can reach 5.3 Million, far from reaching " tens of millions "
