Earlier in afghanistan, brownouts became a serious danger and triggered many helicopter crashes. US military later implemented a system that prevents these tragic incidents

We have lost our fair share of helicopters to the foggy weather conditions, few years ago death of a hi-profile politician Hüseyin Yazıcıoğlu on a similiar incident have caused a lot of public attention aswell.

maybe we can procure the same systems for our UH-60 Blackhawks or develop some, if feasible

RIP to the dead, I had heard that another Turky crach in 16.03.2012 at afghanistan, 16 dead; Sad for that, are they the same type helicopter?

It was an army AS532 Cougar I believe :/ cause of crash was technical failure

There was another crash in Afghanistan involving a Turkish Army S70 Blackhawk before that but nobody died, i can't remember anymore details though

Pakistani leadership condoles with Turkey over helicopter crash


ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): The leadership of Pakistan has condoled with the people and Government of Turkey over the helicopter crash in Siirt province that resulted in the death of 17 Turkish soldiers. President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari in his message to Turkish President Abdullah Gul said: “I have learnt with great sadness that a helicopter accident in Siirt has resulted in a tragic loss of 17 Turkish soldiers. As a nation which has lost so many of its own in the fight against terrorism, we, in Pakistan, keenly feel this loss. Crowned by the glory of martyrdom, the supreme sacrifice of these brave soldiers will never be in vain. On behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the Turkish nation in this hour of national grief.”
Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf in his condolence message to his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan said:
“This tragic incident illustrates the real and present dangers faced by our brave soldiers in the sacred duty of protecting their motherland. By sacrificing their today, these selfless sons ensure for their nation a secure and prosperous tomorrow.”
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of each martyr. The people of Pakistan mourn with their Turkish brethren the loss of each one of these heroes,” he said.
