US will not allow Pakistan to upgrade its F-16s with AESA. Same reason why PAF received F-16 Block 52s without them: to please India. Most of the military hardware provided was for the WoT and not against India. Same reason why US refuses to sell it latest air-to-air missiles as well.

And given that Pakistan and China are getting closer strategically and militarily, getting such weapons will be harder to come by. It would be better if PAF moved away from the F-16 and focus on something more realistic.

I think that once rafael are available with india and our thunder get upgraded US will allow upgradtion with block 70 on cash offcourse ... india cant object to it if it is on cash basis and US will allow as it will provide strategic balance in south asia ...

If they dont then there relationship with Pakistan will be gone forever ...

JF17 and F 16 r two different jets can't replace each other. New Govt is here money won't be issue with in a yr. Trump never refuse anything to Pak all he says pay from U r pockets. I see more F16s new and use in future for pak. Khata Hai aur lagata attitude long gone will never come back.

I agree that we might not be able to afford the Block 70, however, they might let us buy the used ones they currently have in storage.

If they allow us to buy used F-16's from other countries like Jordan, they get nothing. But if they sell us their own - its a win/win situation for both sides.

We get used, but well maintained jets and all Trump cares about is $$$.

Seriously doubt your judgement. The strategic balance in south asia is a useless play-card for media to chew on.

If Pakistan listens, obeys and follows USA instructions and orders (especially on Afghanistan issue), then definitely yes acquiring F-16's shouldn't be an issue, otherwise no. USA also knows that Pakistan has drifted out of USA block in the last few years. Also if Pakistan plays the diplomatic card successfully, adheres to some demands then maybe yes too.

The trick is to play both sides of the fence and get the max out of both sides. That is diplomacy, unfortunately Pakistan, traditionally has never been able to play this game well enough to benefit from it.

On the other hand India has done this successfully by being a champion of non aligned movement, toeing the communist line and enticing western powers at the same time, in the past. The success of Indian diplomatic corps can be gauged from the fact that it was the first country in South Asia to go nuclear and never signed NPT but has preferential treatment on the NSG issue.

Pakistan need to learn to bargain and not bring things in public. A lot of opportunities did rise up for Pakistan in the not to distant past whereby we could have hugely benefited from the windfall of participating in various ventures without the Chinese ire...but we squandered those moments through shortsightedness and lack of vision of our leaders.

Ist Gulf War was a mess... we participated...at the same time we did not!!! The Syrians brought in a whole aromured division to help the Saudis (While they did not get along with them) and never fired a shot in anger but reaped the benefits of the largess of Saudis after the war. We sent a so called brigade and then dilly dallied on its deployment!!

People should remember that even with strained relations, there are no sanctions on these birds and i must say, even after some 40 years, no aircraft makes such an impression and i for one surely hope that Pakistan gets more F-16s.

We paid for F-16 but U.S denied to deliver jets, We paid for Zulus also denied...we took part in Afghan war and lost 60000 + citizens but as a result U.S stop our military aid....
