For all those who are applauding IK for saving Markhor's and other projects Just for their info that project started by Gen Musharaf in 2002 even this project existed before but he allotted lots of funds.

Imran Khan did not do jack-squat in this. Musharaf didn't have any hand in it either. It was a British conservationist (whose name I cannot remember) working in the Hazarganji Chiltan National Park in Balochistan who came up with and implemented this idea with the collaboration of his Pakistani peers back in the mid 90s. It was then adopted in the Northern regions of the country. The scheme actually has inbuilt measures to minimise governmental involvement and in turn corruption, which they all knew was inevitable. Hence the success of the program. It has all to do with a handful of extremely determined conservationists working on their own time and nothing to do with any government.

I posted in detail about this scheme here years ago. The same scheme was also adopted for the Snow Leopard, except the licenses aren't issued for hunting them but for providing opportunities for taking photographs of them. These schemes had been bearing fruit long before PTI was ever thought to come to power.
