France and Britain: We will not recognize any Israeli sovereignty over East Jerusalem and Jerusalem will remain part of Palestine..
The draft resolution calls on all States to refrain from establishing diplomatic missions in the city of Jerusalem in accordance with Security Council resolution 478 (1980), as well as to abide by the relevant Security Council resolutions and not to recognize any actions that contradict these resolutions.
- The French delegate to the Security Council also affirmed his country's rejection of any unilateral decisions aimed at altering the status of Jerusalem, expressing France's regret over the American veto, arguing that France will not recognize any Israeli sovereignty over East Jerusalem.
- As the British representative to the Security Council stressed that East Jerusalem will remain part of the Palestinian territories, and that his country will not transfer its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,
It should be noted that the UN Security Council approved in December last year a draft resolution that does not recognize any changes in the lines of the fourth of June 1967, especially with regard to Jerusalem, except as agreed by the parties through negotiations.
The resolution was adopted with the support of 14 members of the Council, and the administration of former US President Barack Obama abstained.
