12 Seconds After Launch, IAF Missile Destroyed Its Own Chopper

Mi-17 was shot down at Badgam which is very close to Srinagar and PAF didn't come that deep which is why they couldn't claim Mi-17. Regarding Su-30, Ghafoor said he had 2 pilots in custody and reverted back to one.

While I neither believe IAF's claim of F-16 nor PAF's claim of Su-30, PAF shot down the Mig-21 while the only aspect IAF could claim is going deeper into Pak's territory while it makes sense why PAF didn't go that deep since it knows IAF's SAMs & fighter jets would be on high alert.

The biggest drawback is IAF's decision to use only 8x Soviet era Mig-21 and we don't know how many Su-30s were there in those 8 to counter 24x PAF jets which consisted a mix of F-16s & JF-17s

The other pilot was Israeli who neither India nor Israel can claim. 1 indian pilot escaped successfully as he landed on Indian occupied side of IOK.

still better than working for 35 years on indigenous thing and yet 80% of its things are imported, not to mention that that indigenous thing still has not got FOC from its own force..
Epic fail. Tejas received FOC and the indigenous content stands at 60% by value & 75% by numbers way back in 2016 itself.
Indian Components:
  1. Airframe and composites
  2. Landing gear
  3. Electronic warfare suite
  4. Displays
  5. Flight control system (Fly by wire system)
  6. crash resistant self sealing fuel tanks.
  7. valves, wires and plumbing.
JV Components:
  1. Radar : This is in joint development with Elta but a custom Radar for LCA as per Indian requirements
  2. Targeting pods
  3. LRUs : These are the brains of the aircraft and are quasi Indian. They use imported silicon Chips (we dont have semi-con capability. However the actual circuit board, system design, standards for interface and the software are 100% Indian.
  4. Missiles: Some are licence produced while others are Indian
Fully imported:

  1. Radar covering cone from Cobham UK
  2. Engine from US - GE404
  3. Ejection seats - Martin Baker
  4. silicon semiconductor ICs
However, Uttam AESA radar has been integrated and successfully tested along with Astra AA missile along with several indigenous munitions/glide bombs. Engine is one of the most complex systems something which even the Chinese couldn't master and had to import from Russia. HAL/ADA is making good progress with Safran and Kaveri may be tested on MCA

The real world effect of your military's reputation is quite simple - the more embarrassment Modi and your info war planners bring upon your military, the more it will damage morale within your military circles. So it is not just to score ego points. An embarrassed and demoralised army will dispute the approach of its politicians. This will create dissent. Look at how every member of Pak military and public are on the same page following February encounter. Then see how discordant your lot are. Some experts say one thing which contradicts the claims of a news anchor. News anchors are questioining politicians but are summarily dismissed as traitors for even asking the question. Relatives of a covered up friendly fire episode curse Pakistan for the benefit of your Bollywood news channels, only for your government to later admit what they knew all along - it was fratricide and those relatives should have cursed the air force chief. By the way, how many senior IAF staff have lost their job since Pulwama? All of this panic and desire to somehow save face will lead you to make a mistake and get another beating in the near future. Definitely an advantageous position for Pak to be in. Just like abhinandan charged over LOC to avenge the humiliation of Pak bombs dropping near your forward bases and flew into a trap, the same will happen again soon because of your damaged egos.

Ok all you have written here is hypotheticals of what YOU think might happen...NOT what is happening. Let’s make this distinction clear!

Losing an aircraft while chasing an enemy in their own home (read airspace) is something we consider daring. It was foolhardy, but at least we know that our soldiers are willing to risk their life to catch the intruder at any cost for the sake of his nation. It certainly doesn’t invoke any loss of morale, in fact the opposite.
Besides, morale is not something one can calibrate, so not sure how exactly YOU, sitting in whatever part of Pakistan would be able to take a gauge of morale in the Indian barracks lol

But all this morale nonsense apart, what exactly has downing this aircraft achieved for you materially? Apparently our morale is low and you’ve “defeated” us, so are you (Pakistan) planning to come take Kashmir to settle the dispute on your terms? Are you going to influence the west and the rest to stop trade with us? Or use this victory to diplomatically shut India out?
Don’t think so.

Truth is, the Indian war machine is way bigger than Pakistan’s and so are our pockets and reach. Losing an aircraft makes shit of a difference to us. But as I said, you guys can have a ball with it! You may not get another opportunity like this. So savor it!
But for us, the situation remains the same, Not like we suddenly respect Pakistan more or anything, if that’s what you thought was the intended effect lol

You didn't quite understand what I said. Not a shattering of morale to the point that you won't fight, but damage to your egos to the point that you will make mistakes. Abhinandan made a mistake. If you call it bravery, please keep being brave.

We will always make mistakes, as will you, that’s the folly of human nature.
Abhinandan got emotional and walked into a trap. Lesson learned.
Loss: 1 outdated MIG 21 and nothing else. (Perhaps count the helicopter we shot down and the personnel in it)

Small price to pay for this lesson. Other than that, materially it changes nothing.
And that’s my point.
If the sole aim of Pakistan was to down an Indian aircraft and consider that a victory, then by all means, you won hands down.
Other than that, there is not much else for Pakistan to gain from this incident except for hollow brownie points on this forum.
Will this bring us to the negotiation table? Will it stop us from attacking you in the future? Will it stop the economic and diplomatic assault on Pak?
No to all of the above.

So take the victory, and enjoy it. We have no issues with it. Not much else for Pakistan to be happy about in these troubled times anyway.

Irony is that these ppl ridicule that mig-21 is a flying coffin and it will fall out of the sky on its own. Now they are celebrating downing a mig-21 as an achievement.

Really now, don't downplay the facts on the ground. Because of your military's indignation at the fact that Pak didn't roll over and let you surgically tickle our bellies, your military was in a state of PANDEMONIUM throughout the saga. You talk as if the downing of the mig was the only CALAMITY that befell your military.... Yes , abhinandan flew BLIND into a well laid trap (I should add that the day before, Pak pilots RESIsTed all temptation to fall into a similar trap), but please do not brush under the carpet the fact that your air defences were panicked to the point they shot their own helicopter down, your army chief was rudely awoken by stand off munitions falling in his vicinity, your submarine popped its head above water to ask for some more of abhinandan's tea and your air force chiefs waved used amraam missiles around crying that Pakistan used f16s which wasn't fair. Sorry mate, but the downing of a single mig21 is NOT the reason this was a victory for Pakistan. It is about everything that happened around it. Your media was exposed as a shameful propaganda machine. Your politicians branded ANY questioning of their version of events as being pro-Pakistani and hence silenced dissent and free press in the way African dictators would. And none of the above..I repeat none of the above shortlist of golden moments even considers the real likelihood that a SU30 was downed also...

Pakistan will sleep easy for a while.
