117 PMA Long Course Passing Out - 2 Hindu Cadets commissioned with the batch

negro? USMA? I believe there are thousands of african americans, asian americans and latin americans in the US Armed forces

You need to look up the history of the long Gray Line to understand the parallel that I am drawing here.

You never know. Miss Pakistan has fallen in love with President Musharraf!

But in your case, i think she is married. :cheesy:

Pakistan Army is late to induct, Hindu/Sikh as officers.
In India, Muslim officers, soldiers have served along with Hindu/Sikhs in all the three services, since 1947. Many have won battle decorations, includind Param Veer Chakker, in 1965 war, the highest gallentary award in India. Many muslim soldiers, aviators and sailers in Indian Armed Forces have confronted our soldiers in all wars.

As the posting policy in Pakistan Army goes, these Hidu/Sikh officers will be posted to operational areas like along LOC, Siachen, working boundry to guard the boundries of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, threatened by Hindu dominated Indian Army. Interesting, but this is, what is expected from those gentlemen, for which they are actually trained.

Have you considered that perhaps their love of the motherland transcends religion?

Also, Indian Army isn't "Hindu Dominated". Its secular in letter and spirit, and tends to have a sizeable number of Sikhs at any given point of time.

If you have ever seen Indian army barracks (I doubt you have, but take my word for it) they usually have a Gurudwara, Mandir, and Masjid in a row as part of the complex, and sometimes all-faith temples.

That is good, however there is a slight difference in the population dynamics of the minorities in the two countries. Pakistani Armed Forces from the very begining have had a very open recruitment policy towards minorities. The fact is that Hindus did not join because they were not inclined (for a host of reasons). The same goes for Sikhs. However other minorities like the Christians and Parsis have always been represented in the Pakistani armed forces.

As far as practicing their faith, there is no restriction in Pakistan either, the only difference is that if a unit has one Hindu, there would not be a temple for him (likewise for Christians etc.)...however they are free to go to their places of worship off duty. If the Army feels that there is a large number of officers/jawans who require their own areas of worship, this would be accommodated however this need has not risen up until this point.

I don't think there ia any discrimination in the selection system of the army. Christians have served in the army for a long time. Maybe they were shy and did not want to join before.:pakistan:

I agree gnabi!

minorities joining armed forces ideally should not be making news in any nation...
hope to see more women being inducted too in the sub-continent ..

you must try to comprehend the fact that Muslims are hands off the majority in pakistan while only 4% are non muslims, including Hindus Christians and 0.04% sikhs! and in your mahaan India majority are hindus 80% while 20% are non hindus. minority in pakistan are really minorities while in india non hindus are more then 200 million way more then the entire population of pakistan!
as for women in arms force.. dont for get that your mahaan india has yet to induct female fighter pilots in air force.:D
