$1 bl Defense deal with Russia Includes:

The same source also suggests a possible procurement of Air Defense Systems. He did not mentioned what kind of air defense system however, the kind of radar being in process of procurement suggests advanced type. Possibly any of the following type:

2K12 Kub (SA-6): The 2K12 "Kub" (NATO reporting name: SA-6 "Gainful") mobile surface-to-air missile system is a Soviet low to medium-level air defense system designed to protect ground forces from air attack. "2К12" is the GRAU designation of the system.
The fairly large missiles have an effective range of 4–24 km (2.5–15 miles) and an effective altitude of 50–14000 m (164–45,931 ft). The missile weighs 599 kg (1321 lb) and the warhead weighs 56 kg (123 lb). Top missile speed is approx. Mach 2.8.

or

9K33 Osa (SA-8): The 9K33 Osa is a highly mobile, low-altitude, short-range tactical surface-to-air missile system. "9K33" is its GRAU designation. Its NATO reporting name is SA-8 Gecko.
Engagement range and altitude for the missile is 15 km and .1–12km (33-42,500 ft). The system is designed for use primarily against jet aircraft and helicopters in any kind of weather.

The kind of radar procured also suggests:

Gamma DE AESA. Three subtypes exist, the D1/D1E, D2/D2E, and D3/D3E with differing module power ratings and range performance. Depicted is the towed configuration with a 20 minute deploy/stow time. A self-propelled variant was available, with a 5 minute deploy/stow time compatible with the S-300PMU2 and S-400 SAM systems.

S-300PMU2 SAM systems: The S-300PMU-2 introduced in 1997, is an upgrade to the S-300PMU-1 with range extended once again to 195 km.

However, the system is too expensive for this multipurpose $1bl to buy. Bangladesh can not afford S-300/400. Thats why, i did not mention it in the list.

check out S-400

S-300 and S-400 are dreams for Bangladesh. But the $1bl does not include any dream... S-400 is not for sale by the way..

What is there for internal security, I am more worried about terrorists opering in India?
Out of India is hell for them, India is heaven for them...what is there in this deal to take care of the problems in states like WB, Assam, Kerela, UP and bihar which are going to see increased insugency in next 10 years?
Also the next osama will be found in India.... may hiding with Akbar Oasi...

.
More MIG-29s!:hitwall: Upgrading our perv. ACs are ok but, buying more MIG-29 **********:disagree:

Are our GOVT and Airforce senseless?

.
Quantity does not matter much. If BAF had 3 to 4 squadrons of Mig-29SMT/M (some 48 to 64 aircraft) with expert and well trained pilots, then even India (having its border covering three sides of Bangladesh) would think many times before attacking. (Not trolling) and Myanmar would pee in their pants thinking of so.

Bangladesh can secure all its airspace with 64 Mig-29SMT/M:
1. Dhaka needs 2 squadrons (32 Mig)
2. Chittagong needs 1 squadrons (12 Mig)
3. Cox's Bazaar needs 1 squadrons (12 Mig)
4. Bogra needs 1 squadrons (8 Mig)

What about sylhet man?

We should buy better fighters then MIG-29s.

. . . .
We R buying more migs SMT? Our 4.5 gen is yet to be selected. And seeing YAK 130 I hope its Su27/30/35 rather than mig. Btw Su 35 costs 65 million $$ as per wiki sources citing russian news papers and air force officials contrarary to 100 mn $$ as another member suggested in another thread.

I heard that BD is buying JF17...what happen to that

Why go for others, when there exist infra/training/tactics for mig.

.
We should establish our own Defense Industry to make our millitary self-sufficient. We can buy technology from others and give our Defense Industry a quick boost. :)

We can invite Bangladeshi Millitary Scientists-Experts working for other countries to Join in our own Defense Industry. I am sure they will come and we can make some Badass things. :D
