What's new

$1 bl Defense deal with Russia Includes:

Then what about Jessore!! No, Jessore is the academy and in sylhet we do not have a established air base. besides Dhaka & Bogra can jointly cover sylhet. But yes, It would be nice having an air base in Sylhet.

The better fighters costs more.. You can get Mig-29SMT/M for $30ml but the better would not cost you any less than $45ml..

However, 2 squadrons of Su-30MK3 or better is better than 3 squadrons of Mig-29SMT/M. With Migs come the opportunity of corruption for govt.. thats why...

Quantity can not win the war but, quaility can.:enjoy:

I think we shouldn't go for fighter costing more than $20 mil, if necessary we can increase the quantity.

U can't have a true 4.5 gen fighter with 20 mn $$. Even JF17's expected future future blocks will exceed 25 mn $$ mark. And in terms of numbers I don't think we have enough financial might to build large enough numbers of 3.5gen fighters.

But to attain financial feasibility we must maintain 1 type of 4.5 AC and that's why I hope its from a reliable source(is Russia a reliable one?) , cost effective to maintain and fits our long term threat perception. That's why I love chinese ones. But they have engine problem. Saab is also good but even their own AF is saying that they would be obsolete in terms of 4.5 gen capability by 2020.

According to Russian military analyst Igor Korotchenko, Dhaka did not discuss any matter about Sukhoi. According to him, BAF is having serious talks regarding 2 or more squadrons of upgraded 4+ generation new built Mig-29SMT/M.

I hope all this decision involves approval from our air force and technical parameters accessed by Air force experts rather than whims and corruption schemes from awami thugs. Remember mig29 scandal? I don't think our AF was taken on board while buying that thing in 1998. Lets hope that its not the same case this time as well.

It's very unlikely that Flankers would be a part of this deal.

And considering the costs, no one would buy the Su-35. Any wise nation would simply wait for the PAK-FA (not saying BD is to buy them, lol).

That would be unfortunate. And why not su-35? Its a superb Air superiority fighter. Yeah the cost is high but would other options cost less enough? Don't know.

Btw bro, don't talk about PAK-FA. Dada ra shikhane involved. Rather lets pray that we have a politically favorable environment to go for J31 beyond 2025. Before that even Mig SMT can do provided our AF approves it and genuinely wants it. :)

I do not recall any country acquiring Flankers under a loan agreement. I simply suspect that we have to buy them in hard cash if we really want those.

As far as the Su-35 goes, there are better planes out there with that kind of price. It just costs a bit much...

Also the R-27 missile is garbage :coffee:

PAK-FA and FGFA are two different programs. The export variant that'd come out of the T-50 is speculation for now.

We can afford 48 Su-30MK for sure...

reminds me of this quote

What wrong with taking lone, though I am totally against it. But we are paying heavy interest for that. And what other AC do U suggest. Grippen is good but it has US engines. American AC would be a far suitable option. Eurofighter is from 4 diff. countries and expensive. Rafael is way too expensive. American ACs can be an option but comes with tons of strings attached. Again we come to Chinese jets but the engine problem together with awami scums at helm makes it difficult to comprehend buying chinese for now. I believe our future 4.5 gen fighter fleet in substantial no. can only be strategically and financially feasible with chinese jets provided we have a favorable political environment at home.

But have Dada's involvement nonetheless. I believe U know how dadas can easily toy with the supplies of spares and can make it impossible for us to maintain. And what's wrong with J31? Chinese will solve the engine problem by then and on top of that SAC stated that the AC is also for export.

Acquiring any NATO platform would be very expensive nonetheless. Much of our infrastructure, avionics, training and radars and such are compatible with Russian and Chinese war planes.

Acquiring some NATO platform would require significant changes in our infrastructure and training, and that'd be prohibitively expensive. Along with political strings if they are American birds. India would be using Rafale by the way.

So given the current scenario, along with the Chinese having engine issues, Russian jets are the only feasible option in the short term.

As I said, I only suspect that brand new Flankers aren't a part of the deal; so I may be wrong.

The Russians are simply charging too much for the Su-35. The Su-30MK2 may be an option in my opinion. Though, bear in mind that Vietnam's acquisition of Su-30's (12 units) back in 2010 costed well over $1 billion.

I sense that the end result would be the MiG-29SMT.

Never said that the J-31 cannot be looked into! :D

But that is all for the long term.

@Loki another "Alice in Wonderland" thread??

Thread started from what Russians are giving BD in the $1 bn deal.

And now here we are talking about getting ET, J-31, su-35 & what not.

Gosh, BD section never stops amusing me :D

That's why I believe mig SMT can do provided our AF is totally taken on board rather than forcing down their throat. Would have loved su35 but I guess it would remain a dream. :hang2:Btw what would be the possbile russian loss if they sell flankers via loans with high interest? Why do U think they may not sell it?
