What's new

Why was Turkey the first Islamic country to recognize the state of Israel?

Before partition my grand parents used to live in the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh
So your a Indian Mohajir? No wonder the need to seek refuge in Islam. Take away religion and your just a Indian from Utter Pradesh. You entire raison d'être and your identity is premised on religion. Now I understand.

Nice try though. My ancestors come from Afghanistan.

However my ancestors came to British Raj because of better business prospects and job opportunities.

I am not an Indian by ethnicity.

I am not a Hindi speaker or a Bihari.

I am descendants of Afghanistanis but that was a 100 years ago.

My identity also revolveds around ethnicity, nationality and language.

I speak Urdu, I am Pakistani, and I am descendants of Afghanistanis.

Are we clear here?

What about you? What are your origins? :D

Yeh I know. I hear that all the time. Suddenly nobody is 'native'; Everybody is from Afghanistan, Iran, Arabia or Central Asia. Then you get fancy surnames like "Tirmizi, Bokhari, Syed etc being reeled out.

I would be stupid to claim to be from Central Asia and Arabia because no Pakistani come from those areas.

Pakistanis can come from Afghanistan.

However I am not Indian by ethnicity.

In India you have Bengalis, Hindi speakers, Rajputs, Tamils, Keralites, etc.

In Pakistan you have Punjabis, Pathans, Sindhis, and Baloch.

Most probably I am a mixture of Punjabi and Pathan.

And you what are your origins? Please entertain us!
Very simple. Origins are from the soil of Pakistan. "Son of the soil".

Most probably I am a mixture of Punjabi and Pathan.
If you had 1% Pashtun blood you would not use the term "Pathan". You should know what it implies.

And care non for what religion my fellow Pakistani is. Christian, Muslim, no religion, agnostic, Hindu, Sikh etc they are all equal.

Thats how I see myself as well. I hold a Pakistani passport hence I am a Pakistani citizen.

I cannot live in the past of my mother's ancestors. I am loyal to Pakistani now and not Afghanistan and definitely not Republic of India.

Are you Punjabi? Pathan? Sindhi? Or are you a Muhajir from United Provinces of Agra and Oudh or Rajputana?

So he is respected by all Turks?
He is a weak ruler who needs religion to uphold his government; it is as if he would catch his people in a trap. My people are going to learn the principles of democracy, the dictates of truth and the teachings of science. Superstition must go. Let them worship as they will; every man can follow his own conscience, provided it does not interfere with sane reason or bid him against the liberty of his fellow-men.
  • Quoted in Atatürk: The Biography of the founder of Modern Turkey, by Andrew Mango; "In a book published in 1928, Grace Ellison quotes [Atatürk], presumably in 1926-27", Grace Ellison Turkey Today (London: Hutchinson, 1928)
Religion is an important institution. A nation without religion cannot survive. Yet it is also very important to note that religion is a link between Allah and the individual believer. The brokerage of the pious cannot be permitted. Those who use religion for their own benefit are detestable. We are against such a situation and will not allow it. Those who use religion in such a manner have fooled our people; it is against just such people that we have fought and will continue to fight. Know that whatever conforms to reason, logic, and the advantages and needs of our people conforms equally to Islam. If our religion did not conform to reason and logic, it would not be the perfect religion, the final religion.
  • As quoted in Kemalizm, Laiklik ve Demokrasi [Kemalism, Laicism and Democracy] (1994) by Ahmet Taner Kışlalı
I think, Atatürk's own words answers your question.

How do you know I am not Pathan partly. Pathan is merely an Urdu word.

Both does sound same.

But are you secular?
Turkey is a secular country, governing with laiklik or Kemalism as the governing philosophy.

Well then, most probably I am Punjabi mostly then with some Pathan blood.

Uzbeks are not Turks of anatolia. Uzbeks are very different turkic peoples from turks of anatolia.

than go back alittle furtheron history they are all the same one leader one name for the tribe.. so we called us ottomans a century ago..

So your a Indian Mohajir? No wonder the need to seek refuge in Islam. Take away religion and your just a Indian from Utter Pradesh. You entire raison d'être and your identity is premised on religion. Now I understand.

man should I teach you that no white is superior over a black and no black is superior over a white except by piety?

or should I remind you in what Umar ra. said?

Verily, we were a disgraceful people and Allah honored us with Islam. If we seek honor from anything besides that with which Allah has honored us, then Allah will disgrace us.

and if that is not enough a hadith:

“He who calls for ‘asabiyyah is as if he bit his father’s genitals.

sorry that is not an attack on you its just something to calm you down :)

I already said I am not an Indian by ethnicity.

I most probably a mixture of Punjabi-Pathan marriages.

Only reason my grand parents lived in British Raj was because of the opportunities and business prospects.

But are you secular?
Definition of the secularism is; separation of religion from state affairs.

Since, i'm not a religion nor a state, it would be wrong to define me as secular or not.
