The Canadian-based Review Defense Kanwa, a Chinese-language magazine specializing in Asian military affairs, reported that a Middle Eastern country has contracted China's M20 / 12-DF tactical surface-to-surface missile system..

According to the Egyptian Defense Portal on September 18, the Middle East country has contracted the Chinese M20 / 12-DF tactical surface-to-surface missile system who is the equivalent of the Iskander system, In September. The 12-DF or M20 is a short-range tactical surface-to-surface missile that first appeared at IDEX 2013 in the UAE and is designed to destroy air defenses, early warning systems, command and control, communications and Electronic warfare systems and large groups of armor and personnel.

Many international reports indicate that it is similar to the Russian "Iskander"system. The missile carries a heavy warhead weighing 480 kg and has an official range of 100 - 280 km but can be up to an effective range of 400 km, and contains an INS navigational system and another one.. its heavy warhead warriors can be armed with a highly explosive, supercharged, incendiary, or cluster bombs, and finally some reports suggest a tactical nuclear warhead. The system is mounted on an eight-propelled chassis with two missiles in two separate containers, with a maximum speed of 80 km / h on the roads And the maximum range of 600 km.

DF-12 / M20
Chinese Aerospace Long-March International Trade Company showcased the new M20 Guided Ground Launched Ballistic Missile Systems, designed to attack land targets with precision. Two M20 Precision Guided Ballistic Missile can be carried by a single transporter-erector-launcher vehicle. M20 Guided Ballistic Missile was displayed for the first time at the International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2011. Over seventeen Chinese companies displayed their defense products at the International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) in UAE.

The M20 Guided Ballistic Missile is said to be in same category as the Russian SS-X-26 'Stone' (also known as Iskander-E). The 3.8 ton Iskander has a solid fuel rocket motor and a range of 280-400 kilometers, with a 400 kg/880 pound warhead. Iskander-E is a road-mobile, single-stage missile which uses inertial/GPS unit along with Russian Glonass position system to get updates during mid-course and a terminal guidance is can be achieved with either an active radar or optical scene matching system. The combination of all these guidance systems provide Iskander-E missile with an accuracy of 10 to 30 meters. Increasingly, Russia has accused China of stealing a great deal of Russian military technology, and warned of repercussions if China tried to sell these copies to the export market.

The shift in designation from M-20 to DF-12 indicates the missile is being deployed with China’s Second Artillery Corps, the service in charge of missile and nuclear weapons. It is not known whether the DF-12 will be armed with conventional or nuclear warheads or whether it is dual-capable.

According to publicly available information, the M20 missile length is 7.815 m, 0.75 m diameter bomb, take-off weight of 4010 kg, a range of 100-280 kilometers. Taking into account the MTCR restrictions, M20/DF-12 actual maximum range may be more than 300 kilometers, some analysts estimate its extended-range missile with a range of 420 kilometers. Missile with INS + GPS combined guidance, CEP less than 30 meters away. Increase the terminal guidance can further improve accuracy. M20 using the box-type vehicle tilt thermal emission, each TLE launch vehicles carries two missiles. Horizontal launch angle is 45-65 degrees, the azimuth angle of plus or minus 30 degrees, 4 launch crew, launch preparation time 12 minutes. Combat units for the launch battalions, with six launchers, six loading vehicle, a command vehicle, 36 missiles.

Very interesting

so we keep guessing 30 countries

Lets see, it is an arab country.

Which name is comprising of compound words.

It had a special flag, in green background.
with sword and Islamic writing on it.

I wonder which country that might be :-/
But KSA wanted the Russian ISKANDER.. The king is going to visit Russia this October, so I do not think KSA will buy an Iskandar equivalent before the King's visit, where he might get the Missiles from Russia as a good will gesture to buy other systems, like the S-400 for example which interested KSA for a while.. The best candidate IMO is the country with a golden eagle in the middle of the flag..
but then..Colonel Igor Koruchenko military expert, editor of the magazine "National Defense" where he has said: that Egypt's possession of strong weapons will be a factor in the stability of the region, and that the volume of deals between Russia and Egypt will be worth between 2 and 3 billion dollars, and Egypt will be the first country to buy Russian "Iskander" missiles.
So if this one didn't materialise, Egypt would be the best candidate for the Chinese system..

Most likely.

Do you have any idea on which country that would be? Me I thought of Egypt, but KSA , the UAE or even Kuwait might be good candidates..
i have a hunch that it's saudi because they've secretly bought 12-DF from china in the past.... (i might not be correct with the ballistic missiles name)

That was DF-21 a medium range BM.. this one is a tactical short range BM..If the Chinese system comes with ToT, then Egypt and KSA (and to some extent the UAE) are the best candidates due to their existing infrastructures and their capacities to absorb new technologies.. if no ToT, then the guess is open to include Kuwait, Qatar, Oman or even Bahrain..

there are only 3 real Military Powers in the Middle East ,, Turkey , Israel and Iran
TURKEY has its own Ballistic Missile BORA ( 360-1000km )

Export version KHAN Tactical Ballistic Missile ( 280 km ) warhead weighing 480 kg
