Is Lockheed dumping F-16s on India?

Why go for the F-16 when LCA was touted as the replacement for many obsolete fighters in the IAF? It only means one thing. The LCA just isn't up to the mark.

There are other single engine fighter options out there that are more potent and not at the end of life. India even operates one. India is in for a rude awakening. A logistical nightmare. The familiarity aspect will be a huge negative. This will take at the very least a decade to properly materialize. India is starting from scratch on the F-16.

LCA is also going to be bought in equal numbers as other jets.

India has operated far more jets in the past than what's been planned.

India has seemingly bowed under US pressure. There is no other valid explanation for this deal. India has always opposed the F-16 deal when the Americans were touting it like the next thing since sliced bread.

The deal is only between LM and Tata. IAF is yet to select it.

next they are gonna induct gripen and say tejas will still be inducted just in small numbers ..

If India choose F16, all of Pak 76 F16 are grounded for better.

US is shifting f16 line as there are no f16 buyers now ... so if india dont buy they have to scrap it ... why would they shift f35 line ?

This deal is a win win situation for India.

Rafale production line is also expected to be set up in India.

This production will be useful just in case China and Pakistan attack India. India is going to churn out as many fighter jets as possible in the next 5 years or so.

F16 Block 70 is an amazing fighter jet better suited for India.

India is going to produce LCA's, Rafales, F16's and other big ticket defense products in the near future.

India is becoming a defense manufacturing out sourcing destination for the globe.

LOL. Is "India" the most used word in your vocabulary? I just had a funny thought of you saying India repeatedly while pleasuring yourself hahaha. No homo.

Its not dumping when Indians are buying this thing on their own.

Needless to say that this is the only offere India can not refuse as other fighters were too costly to buy in large numbers.
Really? What about those Chinese goods that Indians are purchasing? Aren't those often called as being dumped on India?

You are comparing different league birds.. Tejas is light weight whereas F 16 fall into different category.. even if you call f 16 dead, BLK 52 offers far better package than jf 17.

how do you know ???
LM is an American company.
Management have to make sure LM makes money on India, or the shareholders will kick them out.
Neither LM nor SAAB is in this for charity.

Lol Sour grapes they have no technical counter to produce

If PAF got chance they will sacrifice all there thunder blunders for New F-16V but Its a dream Now

If Pakistan wants to upgrade to F-16V, I am sure TAI can do the upgrade.

And do you think both GOI and TATA are full of fools to make this deal heavily in favor of LM ?? I mean what is the incentive for us in that case ?? :)

LM will make money from Tata, everytime something goes obsolete.
Tata will charge the Indian Government.
For them, it is a win win situation.

Obsolescence is a fact of life in the industry, and you need to use engineering resources
to keep stuff up to date, and if you buy a component from a company,
You hope that they have good relations with their vendors,
so they can secure supply.
Sometimes vendors abruptly terminate supply of components,
so even if your supplier is good, they fall victim of others.
Shit will happen.

I would say it would be better if IAF get some Deal with F-35 , with a custom made F-35 II lightning IAF can be the first to pitch a 5th Gen Fighter in Indo-Pak race .. when you have Tejas MK1/2 already in pipeline you have no reason to buy F-16's .. and getting them at timeline of 2025 will be when Europeans will be retiring them, PAF will also be retiring older blocks after 2025 too .. so the benefit wont be that huge as some Members here Pretend ..
and i agree with @A.P. Richelieu
@MilSpec @Nilgiri @Czar786 @SpArK whats your take on this deal ?

TATA is To Indian Multinational giant Which are global players As firm they bigger than LM When Setting up venture Don't think they are Amateurs

Lol Tata Will Also Consider To take Long-term future in this business of defense Just like LM & Boeing once in US Did So they Will Use What ever they get From LM Add-on there input they have money For R&D to upgrade unlike DSPU HAL which depend totally on Govt funds Lol Tata as MLNC Is much bigger That SAAB & LM put together
You think they are Dumb

And They have funds hire To brains To fill the gaps So win-win for Our defense infrastructure

Ok If they not tried that already ?? If Possible :D

TAI has already upgraded PAF's A/B Falcons bringing them up to par with Block-52s.
Here's one of the PAF's dual seater being put through it's paces after an upgrade.

Size has nothing to do with it.
LM can only supply ToT for those things were they have the knowledge and the rights.
Assume that one of the components in the AESA radar suddenly is no longer obtainable.
Northrop Grumman will offer a redesign, but India will have to pay.
Tata will not be able to design a replacement radar.
Possibly another company like Elbit could design a replacement radar,
but they also want to get paid, either for the design, or per unit.
