We would have been a lot wealthier than either Pakistan or India now if not for the fact that they are 24 years ahead of us in gaining independence. But things are looking good now as GDP is growing by a shade over 7% a year and infrastructure projects are being built at breakneck speed - granted it is not perfect as Awami League are not exactly the most democratically minded party, but as long as they deliver on economic growth then the majority of BD population will accept their rule.
