What's new

JF-17 (2P29) arrives in Pakistan

CAS, but you know that being the smart *** that you are :)

My point is that the reasons you gave implicate that the AIM 120C were given to fight TTP?
You made a lame argument but as in your nature it is useless arguing any further. That is why i simply said "whatever you want to believe" May be the the AIM 120C were for talibans after all, whatever you say Guru ge :)
no sir i meant was PAF wanted latest version AIM120 but declined and given AIM120C instead but they were given to keep pakistan happy and interested in WOT a kind of deal sweetner if a may say any way thanks i dont want to troll or use bad language im here just to increase my knowledge with a meaning full debate with intelegent and able people like you here sir thanks for responding

ohhh common don't be so ignorant yaar

Raytheon began testing the AIM-120 D model on August 5, 2008
PAKISTAN sign deal of F-16 and weapons 28 June 2005

how can we buy a system which was not even tested that time ? first test of your beloved aim-120D was 3 years after our contract .

should i ask why not india buy SU-35 in 90s rather they buy SU-30 ?

Sir saying that AIM120D were not given because they are not required in CAS duties but 120C5 were given implicates that these were required in CAS duties. :)
Anyway, enjoy your stay and increase your knowledge as you want to!

sir i meant to say was USA had made it clear that F-16 Blk52 provided to PAF are for COIN, CAS type of roles only not air to air as primarry role hence they declined to give PAF latest air to air missile combo ... simple
And what do you reckon AMRAAM C5 is and for? Ancient history?

I don't know what is current selling price for Striker II, its a closed program, but with NRE and JF17 modifications it should be around a 1.5 million dollars per aircraft.
Before or after the crash of the pound?

Nonetheless, AESA and IRST remain on the wish list. Both will bring tremendous generation change in tactics, employment, and CONOPS for JF17.
The AESA is a situation of cooling, otherwise we've had a few options available both on paper and in one case ready to plug in. However, for the first two blocks anyway it was never a priority.
The IRST Im not sure about since for the price tag and requirement its a iffy wish and not something that is a must. The jet itself is so compact that sometimes I think its not appreciated. That being said, the construction and manufacturing on the first 25 does leave a lot to be desired and in some cases its less "complex" (lest saying less advanced gets some trolling going) than the F-16.

Wrong info and even worse analysis.

The PAF first gave its request for the F-16 in 2002-3. At that time the current model for US customers was the AIM-120C7 which mean it would not be available for export until the next model (AIM-120D) was ready to field to the US. That made the most current and up to date export version of the AIM-120C-5 as the only option. That was selected and we have that.

Three years later, the AIM-120C7 was made available for export and was sold. The AIM-120D will not be available for export until the AIM-120D-1 becomes available.

Useless discussion topic is jf17 #29 and as usual someone threw an off topic comment and then other defending
Best course just simply ignore move on and stick to the topic at hand

My 2 cents

The GB pound will recover it came down to 135 PKR now it's again risen to 143.5 PKR :coffee:
Its too early... UK wants 2 years to leave EU says leave now...Scotland wants to have second referendum to become independent and leave UK...Northern Ireland wants to join Republic of Ireland...Spain wants joint control over Gibraltar...

Pakistan can benefit from all this...

Add in at least one of the successful frexit... hexit.. czexit... campaigns
and
Then redrawn or reworked European policies and u have urself a
- scenario where Putin ordering a truck load of popcorn for Kremlin
- Russia getting more aggressive attitude
- Germany getting more dominant at a European and international level which can be tapped if we work on it from now onwards
- a financial turmoil leading to opening of slightly better defence equipment acquisition from Britain and Germany / Italy and may be france.
- Pakistan if sticks to cpec can sail with the wind driven by Chinese resilience and investment

All in all... Pakistan can sustain the global crunch provided we are smart and continue with cpec and a better tax collection system. We have no one but ourselves to blame otherwise.
On topic:
We have a yr or two left for Jf17 block 3.. There is a gud option that election of trump coupled with turmoil in European union will allow us to strike a bargain with Britain/italy/spain on a few goodies for block 3 e.g. Irst... radar...ew...etc
The aim should be local assembly at the least as this can be of benefit during our participation in TF-X or FC31

For IRST the PAF could go for a podded solution using an off-the-shelf design. This is what the U.S. is doing with its F-16 an F-15s (via the Legion IRST pod).

@GURU DUTT , i would like to correct you on one more account here. You do not "rest your case", it have been laid down to rest by facts presented by so many posters here.

No shame in admitting when you are wrong and your beating about the bush attitude about this is not something people here do not understand or notice. :)
