Pakistani are roughly divided into two halves - one who do not have much idea of geography and assume that chahbahar port needs Afghanistan to link up to Central Asian countries and the other half who assume that India is interested in Chahbahar after the much hyped CPEC was declared..The limited knowledge is glaring.....India has invested in Chahbahar much before the chinese showed interest in gwadar.

India started investing in chahbahar in the 1990's and it's just a culmination of that process..A lesson in regional history would open many Pakistani eyes.

It's hilarious to see many Pakistani's and their hawks assuming that it's anything to do with cpec.

checkout, If India can sucessfully construct highway from so called taliban controlled area then what will be the difficulty to transfer minerals from afganistan to chabhar ?
Building just a road is not an issue sir since already there is a main highway exsisted in Afghanistan The Kabul–Kandahar Highway which is a 483-kilometer (300 mi) road linking Afghanistan's two largest cities, Kabul and Kandahar. This highway is a key portion of the Ring Road. Approximately 35 percent of Afghanistan's population lives within 50 kilometers of the Kabul to Kandahar portion of the Ring Road.

The Kabul-Kandahar highway underwent major repairs carried out by the United States and Japanese governments with assistance in planning and design by Turkish and Indian engineers. Phase one of paving was completed in December 2003 and the highway was opened to traffic. However, the road has badly deteriorated since that time, from heavy trucks and also from terrorist sabotage. Furthermore, armed guards must protect highway repair crews from ambushes. Banditry and extortion at Taliban checkpoints continue to be problems. so already four nations including India are busy in controlling the 483 km part of the road for last 13 years but they could;t ..... and we are talking about a road of more than 1200 km from Zahadan to Kabul ... kindly elaborate your formula and guide us what strategy above nations should adopt to obtain the control on all major highways?

I read a report that americans are worried about chabahar port, especially Indo-Iranian cooperation might extend to defense sector.

the Iranian Revolutionary Guards do not have a good relationship with the indian defense establishment....moreover they'd be pretty stupid to antagonize Pakistan and China just over a paltry $300 million "investment" by indians (india still owes Iran $6b USD in unpaid bills anyways)

india has 2 halves - both equally stupid

1.) CPEC goes through territory claimed by india so india must go gung-ho in its diplomatic efforts to stop CPEC (which it will fail to do anyways)

2.) CPEC will be a flop (and yet they yap about it 24/7)

I could be wrong but I dont think Chabahar is a deep sea port. While it opens central asia to India more easily, it is still more expensive than it would have been if there was peace between India/Pakistan, but for Indian calculus, it is less risky in the current environment which is probably true.
Chabahar is a deep water port. It should be able to handle dead weight tonnage of ~250000 tons.

India has Gud relation with IRAN and both support North Alliance and worked together in Afgan during Taliban times.

1) Lol, you have iota of diplomatic knowledge, China protest India on South China Sea, so in return India show mirror to china , in form of CPEC.

2) well future will tell , a few terrorist can control the highway to ransom. May be some Freedom fighters which wanted to liberate AJK from PAK burn containers on the highway..... lol.....

The size and strength of Chinese economy/trade and how it effects the global economy, Vs the three countries involved , India, Iran and Afghanistan, in this wet dream to "out flank" Pakistan and China!! What they are going to export among themselves? Pan parag, dry fruits, Afghan hasish?

Do the yanks know that Pakistan and China give monkies to these silly shinanigans as it has zero effect on the purpose for which CPEC was envisage.

Iran would act stupid if it wants to be part of this so called "outflanking" of China and Pakistan, if there is such thing! They can kiss goodbye to the world biggest market and power hungry nation which is China. CPEC would easily give them the shortest possible route to export their oil and gas to China.

As for India, ofcourse, there is no doubt they are working on this after getting the nod from the sugardaddy, the uncle sam.

I say, if Iran dosesn't give positive response to Pakistan, still allowing indian agents on its soil to undermine Gwadar port, then we must bring Arabs in Gwadar in shape of investments, trade and military.

If indian navy makes visit to Chabahr port then make sure Saudia navy visits Gwadar port. if they allow our enemy ships to be stationed close to Gwadar at such close distance of 70-100 kms of our maritime border then we should also allow Iran's enemy ships to visit Gwadar, close to iranian border.

There is no respect for good guy in this world. You have to be tough and rude.

now thats creative thinking .... good luck with it but point is Chahbahar Port is for only commercial purpose not militarry .... cheers mate :coffee:

Desperate attempt it seems to cause rift between Iran and China. Iran and China's relation and economics trade etc will rise more and more. Just recently, the two head of states from Iran and China signed an agreement to have a 600 billion annual trade in the future.

China is welcome to invest in Chahbahar if it wants, however, it is more interested in Iran-China silk road project.

I hope so....but things are not black and white. Indian navy visit to Chabahar can happen in future and they may get deployed over there in any pretext. As said : hope for the best, prepare for the worst. :D

I have stated many time that Chabahar is not a problem for Pakistan. We can call Chabar a kid which is going to rely on the giant Gwadar. Chabahar can be a tiny extension to Gwadar nothing more than that. Chabahar cannot be a threat to Pakistan.

As far as Gwadar is concerned, its gonna change Asia strategically.

I would go to the extent of undoing the mistake that we did by handing over the entire leadership to Jundullah to Iran on platter.

When you start to wear shoes bigger then your size then eventually you will fall. This is something the Persians have to realise. They are already over stretched due to their involvement in greater ME. If we let the GCC play their games from Baluchistan, the Iranian underbelly which is Sunni dominated Sistan, can become a real pain for Persian Mullahs. And if Sistan have issues, they can kiss this so called corridor goodbye.

And yes, acting nice can be taken as weakness in the world we live in today. Its a rule of jungle out there. Only danda is respected.
