What's new

Mard-e-momin, Mard-e-Haq and the Zia ul Haq.

ZAB premature pull out from SENTO and CEATO is what created the later security risk of Soviet Invasion which we had to fight back with Taliban..ZAB is directly responsible for the Taliban mess..Zia ul Haq simply made best of available option on his hands!

If I am not wrong, Zia is cursed for what he did to pakistani society and not the people outside that (read USSR, US and India).

He may have chosen a wise way but he failed to separate the evil (as a tool) and his own house.

Who? ZAB or Zia?

Not Exactly..Zia just became an Icon of hate in the eyes of ignorant during PPP era propaganda..one must look at the foundations laid by Bhutto and subsequently her daughter Benazir...Zia was a desperate man squashed between two..he made best available use of his option...If he did not die prematurely he sure had a prescription of post soviet afghanistan too...He has a solid record in crushing militancy..as experienced in Jordan ..

Demonizing Zia has helped PPP so far in covering their own crimes of splitting the country..Zia was the byproduct of public dismay with Bhutto Islamist socialism..with Zia militancy shaping the perception that fight and war are better alternate to diplomacy and democracy!

In his personal life, Gul was not a fundamentalist, but neither was Zia. Unlike ordinary people, the families of these generals were given greater freedom to pursue matters of faith. Of course, Zia, Rahman and Gul believed in religious ethos, but they fine-tuned the use of religion for strategic purposes to a different level.

You are missing the core of my post. I am judging Zia on what he did to pakistani society and not what he did to USSR.

Any rationale behind pushing pakistan to extremism from quite a progressive society?

Sone say his experince of partition violence in his native Jalhandar left a really strong impact on him as a child and his extremists views were shaped by partition violence

Achievements:
F16 fighter jets
Demolished USSR
Hataf Missile program
Nuclear Weapons development
Cobra Gunship
Kashmir Freedom Struggle
Khalistan movement
Stinger Missiles

I have added below the extra ordinary acheivement :

Our great mard e momin's short sightedness resulted in a life long insurgency in pakistan starting from early 80's from karachi now 2016 almost three decades later it has spread to many parts of pakistan thousands upon thousands are dead , injured there is no estimate & public and private property loss fck it must be gazillions & there is no end in sight ...

phir bhi

mard e momin mard e haq .... zia ul haq zia ul haq

Quite possible but that doesn't acquit him of his guilt. The current acrimony we have is due to those bad memories only

But then even Hitler may have the reasons.

he is cleaver he deceived many but failed to understand that he is going to create a fitna which haunt Muslims for centuries.

General Zia clearly understood the implications of everything that he did during his time in power. What you call a fitna was his fervent beliefs put into action. Pakistan suffered then and is suffering now because of him.

I have the same feeling which i try to share with you people.

Bhutto socialist policies created enough poverty crime and above all lawlessness to warrant islamic extremist.
Actually extremist back then were seen as the good guys - they were the only one with muscle and steel to stand up to Bhutto socialist terrorism and his secret police FIF...I believe hanging Bhutto was too sympathetic.he should been given a thousand live grenades up his behind and then exploded into pieces..

All the items you list as his "achievements" are actually best said in one: Sold himself and Pakistan to act as the local US agent for a fistful of dollars.

With soviet union on the border and Bhutto premature withdrawal from Cento and Seato there was actually no choice other than that...What was cento and seato formed for?? To protect Iran, Turkey and Pakistan from soviet invasion...

Some people suck up to bhutto on religious grounds...no explanation needed..because they admired Bhutto Islamic socialism which would have restructured power in Pakistan on the lines of Iranian ayatollah take over..

Off course yes but eventually that equipment added to safeguard our assets and borders. But the biological weapon he creates grew more powerful ever than thought.

if it was not for his premature death then there must have been some strategy to curtail this bio logical weapon..
Taliban actually grew out of the wrestle between Benazir of PPP and ISI. She wanted to fund different factions in Afghanistan to punish PA for hanging her father..the eventual result of wrestle gave rise to Taliban which bought back the control of Afghan landscape into the hands of ISI...
