India Is Spending Billions to Populate a Remote Area Claimed by China

Just an interesting point, 41.39% of Manipur is Hindu, another 41.29% is Christian and another 8% Islam, which makes the vast majority of Manipuris.

But guess according Sanchez's logic, there are not Manipuri as they do not worship Dragons :D

Wondering when Sanchez will start claiming Bhutan, Russia, Greece, Japan, Vietnam and Persia etc for having dragon's mentioned in their folklore.

Typical Hindu kid, it's about anthropology and history not a panis contest. If you don't know anything shotup!

The Manipuris did not borrow from the Bengali script. Bengali was imposed on them during the British Raj when the north eastern region was annexed by the Company and made a part of Bengal.
Umm.Manipur was never "annexed". It remained a princely state till Patel forced the 'union'. Hinduism and bengali were imposed by the manipuri rulers themselves to gain complete control of the people.

True, manipuris and nagas are most likely people who used to live in south china and migrated for any number of reasons.

There was an international investigation about special type of nasopharyngeal carcinoma that has high incidence in Southern China and Naga/manipur areas only. It's an unfortunate but a true evidence of genetic linked relations.

I was thinking to take a tour to Manipur but was told that the province was not open to foreigners.

Yup, even their history speaks of origin in S. China. Further study and research would be more helpful but India bans most foreign visitors, let alone international researchers. The chances are almost none if the researchers are of East asian descent.

Keep off, I will advise unless you want to risk the route of Myanmar. If caught you will be deported at best or "taken care of" by normal chances..

It was annexed by the British during the colonial rule and the region was temporarily merged with Bengal. The Manipuris did not chose bengali script in their own will.

LOL!! Thats a bengali myth.

Bangladesh route?
Is there any open information website about Manipuri news and culture?

Not correct, never annexed per se. Intimidated ? yes. annexed outright? Nope, the monarchs were in power even after the Brits left..quite some annexation by the Brits.

Nope, Bangladesh route is too risky as well. The thing is- getting in isn't the problem, staying undetected is. Latter is hard to do without help from the armed movements.

Hmm...The manipuris do have some news webistes but I don't partake of them much.

You seem to be confused about history. Read about the Yandaboo treaty.

The british and Manipuris fought and the Manipuris lost. Monarchs were never in "power" they were titular heads who had to obey the dictate of the company. Like it was happening in rest of India. Go and brush your knowledge.

Latter is hard to do without help from the armed movements.

What are you kidding? The north east region has millions of bangladeshis.

Don't come up with your own "facts" if you are unaware of reality.

*Bangs head on the wall* Treaty of Yandaboo was between the Burmese and the Brits and concerned Assam i.e. Ahom Kingdom.
Why !! Can't you simply do a google search ?

Getting in undetected and staying from Indian intel is not the concern of Bangladeshis or the Indian agencies themselves. Unless you wish to argue that Indian sleuths are running around snooping on lungis instead of the freedom fighters.
As I said, getting in is easy, staying in is different.

Don't we Chinese look like Manipuris? First time I knew about Manipur was watching a video news that Indian policemen shot a young Manipuri guy in a street shop in front of camera filming. He looked typical East Asian.

Sure, so do a lot of nagas and STs but the population of manipur, Nagalim and ST is so less, especially once one subtracts Indian migrants, it isn't hard for Indian agencies to conduct checks and require id-proof.It is here that anyone who "isn't supposed" to there is usually caught.Let alone you, even if I go to manipur without proper papers, it can be trouble.

@Abotani are there any news or official figures on the number of rape cases of Manipuri girls by Indians?

Too bad! Thank you for the explanation. I visited the website that doesn't seem to be updated.
