TOKYO - A Japanese cabinet minister visited a controversial shrine for war dead on Tuesday, the third to do so during the autumn festival.

Katsunobu Kato, tasked with boosting the birth rate and coping with Japan's ageing population, visited the Yasukuni Shrine, where war criminals are enshrined along with the war dead, domestic media reported. Some 70 lawmakers also made pilgrimages to the shrine on Tuesday.

The lawmakers from a right-wing group pay homage to the controversial shrine every year during its festivals and anniversaries of the end of World War II on Aug 15.

The Yasukuni, which enshrines 14 Japanese convicted class-A war criminals during WWII, is considered by victimized countries from Japan's wartime aggression as a symbol of the country's past militarism.

Abe made offerings to the shrine on Saturday under the name of prime minister and two of his two cabinet ministers -- Justice Minister Mitsuhide Iwaki and Internal Affairs Minister Sanae Takaichi - worshiped the shrine on Sunday.

Constant visits to the shrine by Japanese ministers and lawmakers have become a major obstacle for Japan to mend ties with its two closest neighbors of China and South Korea, as both of the countries suffered most from Japan's wartime atrocities.

Japan is just getting mad that they are now getting overshadowed by China in every domain.

Back in 20 years ago, Japan's GDP per capita was 60 times larger than China's, while today it is only roughly about 4 times larger. Wanna see their reaction when China even surpasses them in GDP per capita.

Abe is the best Japanese PM for China, since he is helping China to achieve this goal.

Not in the near future. But South Korean or Taiwan will beat Japan GDP per capita soon.

PRC should downplay and see more deeply about this Yasukuni visit thing. All these minor clowns will keep going to Yasukuni because there are too many of them and the barrier of entry becoming Japanese lawmaker and minister is not too high.

Take note that Japanese emperor had not been sojourning since 1975.

Well, you will see.

Since China's 2010 GDP just barely surpassed Japan, but now China is almost 3 times larger.

Japanese's growth won't improve if the relationship hasn't been mended with China.

We don't give a damn about those routine visits.

But all we want to do is to continue to humiliate Japan by overshadowing them in both economy and military might.

No one can understand the Japanese mentality more than we do.

Since China has been weakened and humiliated over a century, so the modern Japanese mentality is to look up the white men and to look down on the Chinese.

Now the Chinese are going to surpass them in everything and to make them look like a midget in comparison.

Do you understand the sour feeling of those Japanese right-wing nuts? It is worse than killing them.

I guess we do not care much. But, it is still of certain value to keep the issue fresh as it repeats.
