1) Sati:
Indian women still commit ritual suicides — RT News
http://www.rt.com/news/india-ritual-suicide-sati/
From your own link
he Hindu tradition of Sati, where a recently widowed woman commits suicide on her husband's funeral pyre, has been outlawed in India since 1829.
A recent example is the case of Sharbati Bai. When her husband died, the 60-year old decided to kill herself.
“I loved my husband dearly. Life here is difficult, there’s no water to drink and who will help with my medication? I don’t know what happened, I prayed to God to lift me from here, and then I fainted,” recalls Sharbati Bai.
Luckily for Sharbati, villagers stopped her in time. This is the biggest change in India’s attitude towards Sati since it was outlawed in 1829: that an entire village in the Hindu heartland came forward and prevented Sati from taking place.

You asked wrong question previously.
Hear nobody die & go voluntarily & they hit with trich which does not hurt much as we expect.
Its same like Shias hurt them self during Muharram.

And what happened to offender ?

As I told previously if they don't kill anyone & didn't come near population not much we can do.

And next year women become mother of Frog's son ?
Its superstition which none of the government can ban except encourage to not to do.

This act are very criticise in India & may be declared offence very soon.

Now you are posting stupidity.

what you cant create a brand new road for your new indian legend?-

why unnecessarily dragging the name of good ol dead Indian man in any controversy-

you guys cant even give a dead patriotic Muslim proper recognition-

its turning out to be like filling a quota- one muslim goes another one taking his place- aurangzeb or kalam- wth??-

Give em a new road-

He is shame on the name of patriotic Muslims....Of course...i am not expecting any other views about this topic either..You always choose the likes of Aurenzeb..

Are you bamboozled into believing that India is anti-muslim?
Have you wondered why did we not rename a road named after Akbar? or Shahjahan?
Just FYI- Tajmahal was built by Shahjahan.
Cogitate!!!

Taught to live with civility???
Makes me go guffawing.
Let me tell you sire, that while the civilizations in Europe were still in their infancy, civilization in the subcontinent was at its zenith.

Using fancy words is not going to make you look any smarter. Just shows you are hiding your inferiority complex behind it and trying to be something you are not!

When you slaughter Muslims by the thousands, elect a PM who is a known terrorist, and then you have the audacity to say India is not anti-muslim!

DO carefully study each link in post#59 tells quite a lot about your "civility!" After that you can go guffawing or nawoffoing, it's not like anyone gives two hoots about it, Except your fellow trolls !!!

And yet both will remain part of its history. You see, one cannot pick and choose with history. It is all an indivisible whole, the good, the bad and the ugly alike.
Right!
But can you imagine Europeans coming with structures such as Hitler square, Hitler road etc?
The logic is simple that we dont want to be reminded of our dark past ergo we decided to rename Aurangzeb Rd to something,or someone in this case, of whom we as a country 're really proud of. This road was not built by Aurangzeb so I do not understand the need for such raucous rants by some(not you).
But yes, I do not support erasure of Aurangzeb from our history books. :)

I can't help but feel that this is the "killing off" of Islamic heritage left in Indian occupied regions. All historic figures often treated minorities deplorably. Such were the times. Expunging their names is direct targeting of the muslim community.

Cry me a river! Muslims in India are safer than Muslims living in Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The road been renamed to Pious Muslim Dr. APJ Kalam who truly represented Religion of Peace - Islam is targeting Muslim community. :cuckoo:

I personally wanted the street to be renamed to 'Guru Teg Bhadur', but bigots and Pseudo Seculars would have gone Bonkers. A nice decision on part of NDMC.:dance3::pleasantry:

Question is why change the name of "this road", why not some other road? Quota system - Swap one minority name, for the other?

My cousins in Lucknow have complained about this killing of Islamic culture and history. Do note that history is always viewed with a lens of religion. For muslims Aurangzeb will always be a hero despite being a villain for Hindus who do not pride the fact that he was part of the subcontinents history. This is clear destruction of Islamic heritage under modi and gang.

The best idea is to preserve all culture whether muslim or hindu. This will be seen by the muslims as destruction of the narrative of their rule over the subcontinent. India has been doing this constantly. Lucknowis have complained that even in museums boards of passed muslim figures have been replaced with hindutva version-even their names have been changed.

This Man claim that he have PHD and professor in Malaysia.
Trust me he is well qualified.
And lets not make any personal comments. :)

Aurangzeb road is not a part of Islamic heritage, it was a road named by the Britishers.

My cousins in Lucknow have complained about this killing of Islamic culture and history.
I do not know if you're intentionally mislead but I can introduce you to someone who is a muslim and lives in Lucknow.
@zorash
He can testify that this isnt true.

Osama Bin Laden was Civil Engineer & Baghdadi also hold PHD but their qualifications does prevent them to become terrorist.

I'm a civil engineer, I guess i can be lady OBL then.
Didn't you say earlier, that you worked for an airline, in the training dept?

Question is, have Bhartis toilets needs met? world's largest slums converted into places livable for humans? world's largest population living under poverty has been rescued? female infanticide is stopped? dowry -related burning of newly wed brides is addressed? travel advisory pertaining to rampant rape cases is reversed? What difference renaming a road is going to make? any difference? Like I said previously, these Bhartis are a bunch of hypocrite. They ban cow slaughter, gau maata, and leave the mataa jee to forage on roadside garbage. In Bharat, beef (not only of cow) is not allowed by Hindutvawadi Modi and his likes are dying to bed with mataa jee eaters such as US, Europe, Gulf.

@levina The only problem I have with Indian establishment is, it takes someone to die for getting their rightful place in Indian narrative. Why weren't these names changed when Kalam saab was alive, why did it take for us to do this after his death.
With all due respect sir, isn't this quite typical of how these things work in most nations- that institutions/structures are named after notable personalities posthumously? I think it would be quite strange and morbid to begin naming things after people whilst they are still alive.

I don't like the name changed. Not because I am secular. But because history should be preserved as we received it. There will be plenty of lessons to future generations about our heroes and villains. A new and better road should be named after Kalam.
