New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit India's oldest mosque, Cheraman Juma Masjid in Thrissur district during his Kerala visit in July. According to sources, the PM will inaugurate the first phase of Muziris heritage project and he will be visiting the centuries old Muslim shrine. However, the dates are not yet finalised.
The Cheraman Masjid is the oldest mosque in India, built in 629 AD by Malik lbn Dinar, an Arab propagator of Islam and a follower and contemporary of Islamic Prophet Muhammad.
It is learnt that special branch officers have visited the place to enquire about the security arrangements.
