What?! I didn't say anything, YOU said about the vehicles.....

Also that has nothing got to do with that. What other members have been saying that our politicians have way more luxury cars than any other developed country; this was said AFTER you claiming Ecevits government would not have been able to afford it....

You can't even criticise the government even on a minor thing that is absolutely clear. o_O
:what:

Why don't you give numbers rather than saying we have more.

And the discussion starts fom the car of the head of religios matters. Some people want to target him and blame him for riding a luxury car. They also want to consider him as an ordinary officer while the majority of the population wants to see that post as a seat of a higher esteem. With a higher influence at home and abroad. Which also represents the power of Turkey.

I don't critize the govt about this matter because I think it is OK, and there is no problem. And the numbers of vehicles in general owned by govt is already under scrutiny by the Prime Ministers office. Govt in general can be considered to be thrifty already. The expenditures generally thought to extravagant are not really etravagant when the many years of negligence is considered. It is merely catching up with the kind of vision they have for the country. Which is far beyond how things looked just a decade ago.

It's pretty well known that Erdogan's eyes are bigger than his stomach (palace) and he sometimes doesn't really care about the law. But the number of benz's shouldn't really matter. It's peanuts in the bigger picture. But it does show their culture.

Anyway, please enlighten me on the upcoming elections. What are the bets on AKP getting less than 45% of the seats? And which parties will probably support him on big issues? Sagolun.

I am not saying we have more!! I am pointing out @xenon54 's link to you because you are talking BS about military vehicles. Plus i am not saying these people should be stripped off from these cars.... there plenty of vehicles that are necessary obviously. But what is the point of having a vehicle worth so much for a role such as the grand mufti, when there are plenty of working people who need help?

Also what is a mufti going influence abroad? Do you think an mufti represents the power of turkey? These are laughable stuff. I am really wasting my time if you think a mufti should be driving a car worth one million....

The odds of AK Party getting less than half the seats is "zero". If you want to invest in Turkey it is time.

Keep demeaning, a mufti! When there is no Caliph, a mufti is half a Caliph.

Caliph of what? The Muslim world xD. Muslims are divided than ever.

Less than half is less than zero? Polls show AKP at about 45%? PS about investing, wouldn't it be smarter to wait for the bubble to burst? The construction/real estate bubble I mean. That's what many foreign Turks are talking about at least. My parents too, as a chance to invest. (not trying to sound too gleeful as it might hurt Turkish Turks financially)

The percentage of votes doesn't correspond to the number of seats. Basicly if the HDP fails to pass the 10% barrier then their votes don't count.

For investing; if you invest before the expectations are realised than it is riskier but also the gain is bigger.

True about the investents. But perhaps a bigger, long term after bubble investment is better. Less risky but still rewarding in the long term.

Damn, should have read up on Turkish politics more. So it's apparent why AKP is courting the Kurdish (sorry mistake) vote. Sh!t.

Another question for you guys. What are Gulenists thought to be voting for this time? And is it really true that Erdogan called the Alevis 'fire worshippers/majoos' in a speech to Kurds??

Have you heard the adage "divide and conquer". Half of the job is done.

Yep, especially with Iraq and Syria going on. Divide the whole place in tiny little countries, and a second Israel (Kurdistan).

Either that party (forgot the name) that was formed by some former akp Gulenists or especially parties like chp, mhp and hdp. There is a clear co-operation going on between Gulen and these 3 parties. Even without some of the Gulenists' votes, akp will most probably win the election again, but i think receiving the majority of the votes is going to be tough for akp, the intensity and amount of bullshit in Turkish politics right now speaks volumes too.

Would you want the AKP to win the outright majority though? What are the odds of minority parties (I mean smaller, not ethnic) teaming up and sharing a voice? Setting aside differences temporarily, and focusing more on shared interests. I mean CHP and MHP must have some sort of shared interests? Perhaps against Erdogan's open support of KRG and such?

I hate when I see non-Muslims are talking about Muslim countries's internal affairs. Mod should ban all of them from this section.

The current smaller parties have been losing elections time after time since 2003, so the only thing they can do is to team up. However, this time the situation is direr than ever for them. They, chp, mhp, hdp and Gulenists, know that with a presidential system they will have less influence, hence they teamed up together.

imo, i would want the akp to win the majority so that Turkey can transform into a presidential system, like the US, France, south Korea (mentioned these just in case someone starts blabbering about akp turning Turkey into a 'dictatorship'). History has shown that the coalition periods in Turkey were pretty indecisive times, which is not a good thing for the development of a country imo.
