Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

Something does not add up about the JF-17 project. The PLAAF non-induction is a red flag.

Look at recent history of American combat aircraft exports - most of the exported aircraft are models the USAF/USN use
F-16, F-15, F-35, F/A-18, F-4

If the American military did not select the aircraft it never got exported

Sir,

You are my winner of the discussion for today---that means it puts you as the idiot in chief of the day for reading the post and responding in the manner that you did. Please enjoy your celebrity status.

USA built 100% of its parts including the engines. China is still dependent on Russia for its engines. The engine issue has dogged JF-17 from the beginning. The J-10 and J-16 still rely on Russian engines. Pakistan would have to get Russian approval for AL-31FN III engines for J-10 and J-16.

Forgot about the engines for a minute. If it is half the aircraft it has been advertised why doesn't China induct it ?

Hi,
Because it was designed as Jv from start for us. They dont require jf-17 type single fighter, when they can make do with j-10.
Different requirements, different roles use common sense for once

Hi,
with you logic, then their military selected stealth bomber/fighter. why dont they export it.

sounds ridiculous, right? this how your posts sounds to other members

PLAAF economic situation and technological situation was different way back in 1993-94. it mind set changed with the availability of j-10 in early 2000s. even so, JF-17 was never supposed to be main fighter for the Chinese, they only agreed to a 100 jets which is negligible looking at the size of PLAAF.

Range

the JF-17 may eventually become a better dogfighter with some redesigns, it may get an AESA radar, and high off oresight WVR missiles as well as Ramjet powered BVR missiles, sensor fused avionics may replace what is currently installed

but the plane is short-legged; a point defense fighter, and china has the need to deploy fighters over large distances
plus for relatively little more money, the j-10 has more space in its nose and in it air frame to carry more/larger sensors and fuel

couple that with better agility (fly by wire and a better design) and its a better pick for the PLAAF
the fighter the JF-17 should aim to be is the Gripen, same weight class, similar engine class, and a demonstation of what another country that needs a point defense fighter can develop when the plane has all the bells and whistles masterfully placed in a small air frame; getting nearly the same performance planes twice as expensive and 50% larger have (eurofighter, rafale, f-16)

Wa'allah Doctor----it is like praying to your God----sometimes the doors slide open for the prayers to slip thru and sometimes doors slide close and prayers bounce back---Sometimes when the God listens---it delivers---and sometimes it goes into to ether and we keep holding our hands together.

transnational nature of the Pak-US relationship, the pitfalls of not having your own advanced industries
imagine if Pakistan was technologically where South Korea is (having started out relatively at the same level in the mid 1950's, if not better off than South Korea), what spin-off military capabilities Pakistan could independently develop

Hi,

This aircraft is only designed for Pakistan and only for Pakistan.. Pakistani air force assumed that is what they needed and that is what they got--. The Chinese needs and requirements were not in consideration or that of any other nation. For that reason---they did not develop a 2 seater aircraft either initially.

It is only in the later stages, after interest in the aircraft was shown that Pakistan asked china to develop a 2 seater as well.

To Pakistani readers---it shows you how dumb and stupid Pakistan air force hierarchy is ---it is replacing mirages and F 7's with this JF 17 and mirages they have and F 7's they have---some of them are also are in 2 seat version as well.

I mean to say---is there any limit to the stupidity of this organization aka PAF.

Make some sense....

it is okay if a country develops a combat aircraft and does not want to share it with others
maybe they do want preserve the secrets

i have never seen a good combat aircraft exported to 3rd country and not used by local air force
if the jf-17 is good how much there isn't any customer beyond Pakistan ?

it is not like china is a proven builder of combat aircraft. they are still importing from russia

The way China provided JF17 to Pakistan ..China is looking for other buyers...

But why Pakistan is so happy

China will manufacture and sell JF17 to other and make money
Pakistan can not manufacture enough for themself forget about manufacturing for any outside order...

Hi,
Well quite in terms of What India is importing, right?

I have already answered to your dumb query, this was developed with China to enable Pakistan to fully mature Aeronautical industry and gain good exposure. As for China they have other heavies project down the pipeline.

Again you dumbess has know bounds does it?
When you go for 4 gen fighter craft its not just one package, its part of package.

jf-17 was envisioned for PAF, if it gets sold good enough will help us bring the costs down, if not, then not a big deal.
I ld rather see the orders of local order fulfilled before it can be sold to any country.

Jf-17 anything unlike tejas is not only flying, but bombing the shit out of enemy and evolving into more mature platform.

It dosent matter because its a jv if china sells 100 jf17s Pakistan still gets a 50-50 cut of the profit

the way i see it China does not want to share the secrets of j-10. hence they come up with jf-17 which is watered down aircraft. it works for pakistan because it replaces a lot of old platforms - j-7, q-5, mirage iii and mirage-5. it helps pakistan in building their aircraft.

at $20 million cost price the profit has to be quite slim

Hi,

what you see is from horse vision, something which is way beyond your limited horizon. I can understand that its natural.

even with giving you logical answers you never seem to understand, but you're hell bent on making an embarrassment to yourself
