@Akheilos

Thank you for this very interesting thread. I very much enjoyed that short video. I imagine that the video is part of a larger travel documentary about Oman as I could see in the beginning of that clip that he also covered the tropical areas of Oman (Salalah, Dhofar etc.)

Overall Oman is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet with an ancient history and extremely lovely and welcoming people. It's very much a success story and a inspiration for other GCC states. Oman is a "wild" part of Arabia yet much more tourist friendly and obviously much more prosperous than for instance nearby Yemen which might even be more interesting for many people.

I have made quite a few threads about the nature of KSA and tourism in KSA which might interest you as well. I don't have the links to them now but you can google the threads that I have created. They will be found there.:)

Also I encourage you to visit this thread concerning the Arab world. It's photos from the entire Arab world.

Lastly do you know where I can watch the entire documentary. It's National Geographic. They are usually making splendid documentaries of all kind.

It seems to me that the entire documentary has not been uploaded on Youtube. Probably due to copyrights. Torrent (s) (even the word is banned here on PDF) are not allowed to be linked to.

Oh, here is another short clip from the same documentary.;)

Another interesting video from Oman:

Ok, I found this video. Still Arabia.

"To see more pictures about Yemen, please visit Peter Langer - Associated Media Group

Since ancient times Yemen has enchanted travelers, merchants, philosophers and kings with its secrets and its wealth. At the crossroads of spice and incense routes, Yemen is one of the oldest continuously inhabited regions in the world that has not yet been touched by the winds of modernity. This fascinating country stretching from the shores of the Red Sea to beyond the shores of the Arabian Sea is extraordinarily rich in historical sites.

The ancient sites are refreshingly free of commercial ventures with an atmosphere of uncluttered authenticity no longer present at better-trodden historical locations. One of the most striking features of Yemen is its astonishing architecture. The country is covered in ancient skyscrapers made from stone and mud - where people live on top of their animals.

Every visitor is fascinated with the variety and contrasts in landscape, architecture and people: From gigantic mountains with fortress-like villages on the top of the peaks to picturesque urban settlements with houses of clay, bricks and stone; from deserts to fertile valleys; from dreamlike beaches to colorful markets filled with the sounds, fragrances and faces from 1001 Nights, you will meet the old wisdom and the art of the Land of the Queen of Sheba everywhere.

A trip to Yemen is considered an experience of a way of life long since lost to the modern world, a dream destination of unusual record, a destination of a different age.

Yemen is rich with History not sure what happened to it now :(

The same that happened to other ancient civilizations in the Arab world such as Iraq, Egypt, Syria and many others. I guess that our region has been cursed by some Jinn. It's a long and complicated story. We are to blame for this but outside factors are as well. Not much to do but hope for better times.:angry:

The last two videos are brilliant. Guess that's related to tourism.:coffee:
