Pakistan Army testing MBT-3000 next moth ?

Al Haider ...is this an offical designation or are we just going with it on this forum??

Al-Haider NGMBT is currently the codename for testbed and trials inside Pakistan. It is still under going trials and after if Pak Army decide to buy it, HIT will also get license to produce it.

Its the same way Al Khalid got its name.

MBT 3000 or possible Next Al Haider MBT's armour, mobility and firepower should really be a GENERATION AHEAD and also offers improved reliability and reduced maintenance.

At $5+ million a piece, this tank can almost rival Leopard 2A6 in price and a bit of shape like Abraham and french leclerc tank. I think there's a big problem when trying to market this tank to customers. For those that can afford it, they probably would prefer Europe/US/Korean/South African option instead.

FOR PAKISTAN: The new high tech, MBT 3000 / possible Al Haider with Chinese power pack , and low quality Chinese gun and scaled down armour are again a problem.

Chinese Modern Stabilizer needs to be checked !!

last but not the least, older Chinese tanks had the problem of rust, hope the new MBT 3000 has resolved the problem of rust !!!

Also not to forget, Chinese smoke filled ENGINES are a definite no for Pakistan, hence either reliable and much improved Ukrainian UT6G-3 (1500 HP) or (1800 HP) Engines or go for a true Western Engine.

They might need to modify it and in the case pf Pakistan, make a true Next Generation AL HAIDER MBT

What is the monthly/yearly production rate of AK1? and the cost per unit @Dazzler

less than 4$ mil to PA, production rate varies from 4-6/ month, requirement

low quality chinese gun?? do you know they make the highest pressure 125mm gun? with better quality than russian guns.

Then y Pak not use Chinese rather it uses it own made or some say a variant of Ukrainian in its tanks.

Wat abt the rest of questions and problems above in previous tanks PA faced, hope this new mbt 3000 resolves them as a true generation ahead.

standardization and better metqllurgy to utilize common ammo for all fleet. there are other reasons as well.

regarding chinese gun, the original zpt 98 gun was so powerful, as per analysts, it gave 40% additional chamber pressure, but such energy reduced barrel life significantly despite double barrel coatings to reduce wearand tear. Current barrel is much better quality wise.

Any idea weather tests have begun

H-Khan of PAK-DEF ... lemme guess ! .... The same rumor factory who said PAF would be getting J-10b in 2014 - 15 and J-10b was meant for PAF and stealthy JF-17 and Block-2 with AESA and extra hardpoints and blah blah .... and whats not.

H-Khan is apparently the reason why Nishan-101 gone mad. :D

@Dazzler your opinion ?

To say MBT-3000 is based on T-72 is like to say JF-17 is based on MIG-21. Besides, who said MBT-3000 is under powered? Who said it's engine has heating issues? Please stop to spread these crap unless you have proof to support your claim!!!

MBT-3000 is just upgrade version over MBT-2000, PA already have all the tech to build better tank then MBT-3000 that is why I m opposed to this purchase, 1300hp is not sufficient for PA requirements, PA wanted 1500hp engine even in AK series so why they are going for MBT-3000?? local industry should be given priority as it can build much better tank then MBT-3000, because even if we go for it,
.
The PA version of MBT-3000 will have systems from west in it, so if we have to put systems from west in a tank purchased from another country then why not build our own tank while we can have tech available from Turkey, Ukraine while AK tech is already available and South Korea is also willing to work together with us in defense field.

I agree with you on that. If PA is developing an upgraded version of Al Khalid, then it is ridiculous to buy another tank which is also based on Al Khalid (MBT-2000). The only reason I feel reasonable is that PA may have met some obstacle for developing its AK II and they want to get technical support from the Chinese side. But before that, they want to know what MBT-3000 is capable of by testing it in their backyard.

Initially AL Khalid was quite similar to MBT 2000 but we made several changes now its pretty much a different Tank
