Fortune Global 500: China Grows, but U.S. Still Top Nation

My friend, in Japan, I can start with about (USD equivalent) = $105,000 - $110,000.

My uncle works for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries as a senior IE (Industrial Engineer) and earns (USD equivalent) around $250,000.

That's true man, I mean I lack the discipline, but I know that's the wage, but the oil field is far more lucrative in Canada. Though the ability to live in a good place like Japan rather than Canada is a prize in its own. Lol, you don't know what lame means until you stay in Canada.

Its a lot of sacrifice, @Backbencher . Seeing many of my friend(s) from high school getting married / having kids is one bad side. But, as i always say, everything has its time.

What field of engineering did you go into? :)

I thought going to your friends weddings is awesome, the brides maids thing is a myth, I find cousins are better, not my cousins of course, lol.

I hear oil engineering is a good field to go into now. I have a friend who was a mechanical engineering student , now works for EXXON MOBIL, and stationed in Louisiana. He's making $$$$.

Well, the benefit of Ph.D or MBAs is that you can always do consultancy work. And travel. And get paid $$$$ for doing it hahaha!

Where abouts in Canada are you at, bro? By British Coloumbia? Vancouver area?

LOL!

Don't remind me , man. Its' depressing.

I already get asked by my mum if i have a 'fiance' already.

As for the friends getting married. I just attended a friends' wedding this past January.

I think of my close group of friends, i'm one of 3 guys left that is still single. :hitwall::hitwall::lol:

Vancouver yes, but as I said I was in Alberta for a while, OMG, I have never seen such lame people and place. The driving is pretty sweet though, I mean they don't have any good tracks, but their high ways are pretty awesome. But only about three to four month a year until the road conditions start to suck.

Winter sports are also not bad, though I still prefer Whistler to anything Alberta can offer.

Cheer up, contrary to popular belief American/Canadian girls are not easy, but they are always down for a good time, unless it's in Canada, then it's an God why am I still here time.

Are you born in America or Japan? Cause I mean my friends and I never felt we need to get married, I probably won't and my mom resigned to it, but grandkids are still a must apparently.

I only been to Japan twice, and both times not for pleasure, how are Japanese girls relatively, I mean Chinese girls have some pretty high expectations, been on one date and it's like we are married.

To Indian members that read this, a Indian girl's uncle ran at me with a postal before in the US, just so you know, calm the heck down. This is not a false stereotype, I thought it is but it's not. Nuke would have been launched if it had been after 8, yea 8.

LOL, so i guess we have some similarities in regards to life expectation(s). lol!

If you're in Vancouver area, i'm sure you've been to Calgary before eh? I heard its also very beautiful over there in BC area, the ocean view, i bet is spectacular. I've landed in Vancouver before on my way back to Japan , but never had the chance to actually explore the area. I bet its nice.

American girls are different, really different compared to what I've dated in the past. There's a lot of social scene they like; i mean, the typical here where I'm at (southern New Jersey) is going to the bar scene, or going to boardwalk events by the shore. I guess its hard to find my complementary girl because I'm kinda conservative type. I prefer to make food at home, spend quality time in my condo / watch a movie/ drink bottle (or two) of wine and just enjoy private one on one time. You know? Not really into big social scenes like going to bars . I'm an old school type, i guess....

I grew up in Japan. In fact, I came to the 'states to pursue graduate studies. Japanese girls are different to American girls; one thing that i find different :
a) Japanese girls, majority of them, are very conservative, and soft spoken
b) Japanese girls expect man to initiate everything
c) American women are direct, and won't be afraid to take charge...

Man, i get a lot of heat from my mum , she always asks when i'm going to bring the lady home. The typical mom, you know, always reminding me not to work too much, take time to relax etc. I'm sure very similar to Chinese mums eh? :)

One thing i don't like tho, is that i'm here in 'states by myself. I don't have relatives here. So, adjusting was interesting. You have relatives in Canada? Or are they all in China?

100 and 128. Chinese companies are on their way to becoming the most powerful in the world :)

I lived in Calgary for a while, it sucks, you didn't miss anything, Vancouver is really been pretty good these past few years, well, I mean as good as Canada is concerned, I enjoy the outdoors there rather than the club, bar scene, it's no Dalian or Shanghai, or LA that's for sure.

I guess if you are into the conservative approach, that's cool, but Jersey maybe a bad place to do it, I been forced to watch one too many episode of the Jersey shore. lol

Actually I find Asian women are the ones that take charge, American girls are generally more set in the gender role thing, unless you find a total whack job that majors in female studies.

I can't speak for Japan, but China is definitely like that. I don't know, maybe because you guys were never communist so it's different.

Ha ha ha, oh the jersey shore . I always found snookie to be so annoying !

Yes, i guess you're right. I had dated a Korean-American for about 3 years before; they are very vocal about everything. But largely i like how they are very similar to Japanese in family / home life. I'm sure its same too for Chinese.

What about you? Single? Married?

Not very impressed. I hope to see some Chinese companies make it into the list, other than oil companies and big behemoth banks.

Get Jealousy of Rich guys on the news and in PDF including @Nihonjin1051. Only 28 and plan to buy house at Phillipine or Guangdong! :hitwall:

Heh, you post the list, then complain about the list?

Chinese billionaires remind me a great deal of American billionaires. I really admire these guys for their risk taking and business acumen, their wheeling-dealing and their ability to adapt and thrive in adverse circumstances. That, and they're often quite colorful characters, indeed.

China needs more of these fellows and fewer SOEs.

Many of China's SOEs are far more competitive than this guy's company.

Why we have to curb down our SOEs when it is working properly? :coffee:

No, hate commitment, I mean I'm in a long term relationship now, sort of. But I'll probably never get married.

I had a 2 year plan for a phone once, still regret it to this day. Damn Galaxy and their 0 dollar deals.
