Bomb hits Pakistan's spy agency in northwest

It would Pak Govt. is the main culprit behind all these happening and they are just ignoring because of Dollars they are getting.

It wouldn't be surprising that these extremists are being given support from the external enemies of Pakistan. It's been already admitted in mainstream news that the CIA is backing Jundallah, and other Al Qaeda (Al CIAda) groups to stage terror in Iran. So, what is the US and NATO doing with all that opium they are protecting, now that it's admitted that Karzai's brother is a drug kingpin? $430k does nothing to repay for the thousands of Pakistani soldiers who have died fighting, nor even scratch the surface of the millions of refugees who have fled the warzones.

no brother, US is too blind to see this and too reckless to feel the pain with which we are inflicted with daily..daily, hundreds of us die in bombings, many of our soldiers die, US doesnt see it. US keeps on demanding more and more, and when we 'do more' in the form of waziristan operation, the US forces leave their checkposts in Afghanisan and let the RAWlibans get support from their consulates! one can only imagine how serious US really is in this 'war against terror' they have made an excuse to capture afghanistan.

the security forces fired on the car when it didnt stop! - they are doing their best under difficult circumstances but it dosnt mean someone else is involved.

Peshawar is not Karachi that can't be sealed and how come they came that much near i mean how big is peshawar cantt not more than 5 Square mile.
And it is ISI office every where they are saying its ISI building

man even i do n t know that ISI building was at Khyber road.my friend were shocked that when they came to know that ISI building ever exit there at Khyber road.
people living in Peshawar do n t know the location of intelligence building but terrorist living in mountains sure knows this show external hand is behind.

ignorance is bliss to you and your friend!

ISI needs to setup some covert op's to the hang the militants in streets on peshawar just like they hanged them in Swat on streets in front of public!

Gentlemen I will not provide the exact location of one of the ISI sensitive locations but I'm thankful to Great God that many Soldiers and Officers of ISI have survived this horrendous shocking attack including my brother Lt. Col___. The main one is destroyed this sensitive agency's manpower is safe but damaged caused to other assets etc. Desperation of these bastard barbarians is on the verge. It is both imperative for the government of Pakistan and security agencies to "Expel" Afghanis out of Pakistan with taking into considering the deteriorating condition of N.W.F.P-Pakistan, I believe before the recent on going operation in Waziristan, these aliens should have been expelled with UN help under the pretext of "Smooth Operation" in Waziristan and stability of the province. I believe Pak Army is doing well in its smooth-bore operation in Waziristan but had they before operation put forward demand of expulsion of afghanis out of N.W.F.P. Some information shared with me that is not of extreme value but yet important is every single attack is carried out by Afghanis..now Govt has all the information on its desk question is what in the heck is their plans about these afghans on our soil spreading terrorism with clear documented proof. 10 dead, 30 hurt in Peshawar suicide blast

Today's blast was the most deafening one i have heard up till now among all the blasts that i have heard in Peshawar & in other places. Rough estimates as per my source are that 600+ KG explosives were used, even a figure of 800KG is also in consideration. It was much much powerful then the one happened in PC Peshawar. It literally made my home shake even its 3KM away from the blast site. Below are two pictures that i took from my camera capturing the Mushroom cloud and the size of it can give you an idea about its intensity, the first picture was just couple of mins after the blast while the second one was about 10 mins or so forming into a normal layer of cloud as seen on any rainy day.

May Allah give peace to the passed away souls and courage to their families and protect All of us and Pakistan from this evil and give courage to PA & we the people of Pakistan fight & face this evil. :pakistan:

My condolences to the families of those killed and injured.
Pakistan seems to hit the list on violence these days. it has even crossed Iraq and Afghanistan. i wonder why cant we stop these bastards from making pakistan a hell on earth. hardly any passes without bomb attacks.
it is so unfortunate that we are still not united against terrorists and have still not identified our real enemy.

@TaimiKhan

Nice snaps there. I felt the intensity of the blast and the smoke from 5Km away. I wonder how it was while near to the blast location but one of my friend who lives near the cantt area (was about to get married tomorrow), has cracks all over their newly constructed home and they are looking for an alternate coz they can't get inside the rooms due to the fear of its falling down.

Well those who live after suffering a blast of such magnitude have very horrid kind of experiences to tell and live with. As you and me, we both have went through many now but one of the blasts in the past one week happened to be just 0.5KM away from my office and hardly 100meter from my home, all home glass windows shattered and the blast wave hit the home even there were many other homes and hurdles in between. The people in the nearby market who were saved even were crying after two days when asked how they were doing, complete shock they were into, even many homes in nearby area developed cracks, some minor and some major. It depends on the material used, structure and the positioning of the home from where the blast took place. Anyhow its very very terrible, me and my family went through it and its unforgettable and affects a human being a lot.

Pakistan bombings kill 18 as spy agency hit
Pakistan - 13 November 2009

PESHAWAR, Pakistan – A powerful suicide car bomb ripped through the Peshawar headquarters of Pakistan's top spy agency Friday, killing at least 10 people and leaving much of the fortified building in ruins.

A similar bombing killed eight people in another northwest town, the latest in a spate of attacks as 30,000 troops press their most ambitious assault yet against Taliban militants in their mountain strongholds on the Afghan border.

The attack devastated the three-storey Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) provincial headquarters in the northwestern city of Peshawar, sending huge clouds of smoke spewing into the sky and destroying more than half of the building.

The bomber, driving a mini-truck loaded with explosives, raced down the road towards the ISI building shortly before sunrise, provincial information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said.

Soldiers opened fire after they spotted the truck, but the bomber ploughed into a steel barrier and blew up the vehicle outside the main gate of the ISI compound, wreaking massive destruction, he added.

More than half of the U-shaped building was destroyed by the force of the blast which devastated its outer wall, a front portion and a column, and scattered bodies among the rubble, an AFP reporter said.

Peshawar, on the edge of Pakistan's lawless tribal belt infested with Al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters, has increasingly become the favoured target for major attacks by suspected Taliban militants in recent months, particularly since the army launched its massive offensive in October.

Absar Ahmed, a 25-year-old taxi driver, said he was driving near the ISI building when he heard gunshots followed by a huge blast.

"My car was hurled on to the pavement by the force of the blast and my head banged into the windscreen. When I looked back to check on my passenger there was smoke all over," Ahmed told AFP in hospital.

The attacks coincided with a visit by US National Security Advisor James Jones who held talks with Pakistan's army chief, General Ashfaq Kayani.

The United States has put Pakistan on the frontline of its war against Al-Qaeda and has been increasingly disturbed by deteriorating security in the country where attacks and bombings have killed about 2,500 people in 28 months.

Pakistan's powerful and shadowy intelligence agencies have a history of supporting the Islamist groups in a bid to counter rival India, but militant attacks have turned against domestic security targets in the last two years.

"Seven military officials and three civilians were martyred and 60 others were injured," a military statement said.

"Up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds) of high explosives and mortars were packed into the car bomb," provincial police chief Malik Naveed told AFP.

A second suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into a suburban police station in the garrison town of Bannu, southwest of Peshawar, killing seven security personnel and a prisoner, police said.

The most devastating bomb attack in Pakistan in two years killed at least 118 people in a crowded Peshawar market on October 28 as militants put ordinary civilians in the crosshairs of their bloody campaign.

Friday's bombing was the first major attack outside an ISI installation since May, when a suicide attack on a police building in the city of Lahore killed 24 people.

The government blames increasing attacks on Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which is the target of the ongoing offensive and which wants to avenge the killing of their leader Baitullah Mehsud by a US missile in August.

The latest attacks came after stiff Taliban resistance killed at least 17 Pakistani soldiers Thursday in the military's deadliest day since launching its major offensive in South Waziristan, security officials said.

Pakistan has sent a 30,000-strong force, backed by war planes and attack helicopters, into battle in a US-endorsed mission to wipe out the chief strongholds of Tehreek-e-Taliban in the tribal district of South Waziristan.

Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed, who heads up relief efforts for the displaced, said the "active" operation would "be over within days" and the army will consolidate its positions, allowing refugees to return in the spring.

Targeting the ISI is a new one.

well not new but i feel whatever is easy target for them they try their hands on.

This building is known to everyone as ISI regional office. Big walled building with CCTVs all arround.

So it was obviouse they going to target it.

The blast was so much powerful that it had woken up our entire colony in the early morning.

The smoke was visible from our house and the entire sky was black as much as we could see from my house. And the smell of explosive blast could not let me breath well till 9am. Although our house is at 30mnts walk from that area of blast
